Michelle Obama, speaking yesterday at a campaign event in Florida:
The presidential election this year is November 6. |
| “FORWARD.” Is it the perfect slogan for the Obama campaign? Of course it is! The President wants voters to look forward, because if they all look backward, the first thing that they will see is how he exacerbated the 2007-2008 financial crisis.
They will see how he “bailed out” the auto industry at the expense of private citizens who had invested in bonds in those companies. They will see how he shut down hundreds of auto dealerships who were shown to be donors to the Republican Party. They will see how he rammed through the Affordable Care Act (or as it is more popularly known, Obamacare). They will see the utter failure to provide any economic growth that was Obama’s justification for his so-called “stimulus” that added almost a trillion dollars to the national debt. They will see that unemployment has been over 8% for forty-plus months. They will see the Solyndra fiasco. They will also see the proliferation of regulations aimed at crippling historically reliable sources of energy such as natural gas, coal and petroleum. In the midst of the worst post-war recession, with millions unemployed, they will hear the president announce that “the private sector is doing fine.” They will remember that Obama promised to cut the deficit in half, while giving us an annual deficit of more than a trillion dollars – for each year he has been in office. They will see that more people are now receiving food stamps than at any time since that program was inaugurated. They will see the 37 White House czars that are not accountable to the voters in any way. By asking voters to only look forward, far forward, the Obama campaign hopes that they will only see sunshine, lollipops, rainbows and economic unicorns and ignore the fact that he has utterly no ideas on how to help entrepreneurs and small business feel confident in their future. Right now these men and women who create most of the new jobs in this nation are unwilling to invest in growth strategies for their firms. They will not invest in new equipment. They will not hire more people. They will not, therefore, help the economy recover. Unlike the government, they understand the concept of “throwing good money after bad” and they will continue to sit on the sidelines. So Obama asks you to look forward. Look forward to a place and a time that doesn’t actually exist. It doesn’t exist anywhere but in the mind of Obama. Obama just loves the concept of FORWARD because it’s a blank slate, an empty page that he can fill with fantasies. In other words, it is a reprise of the 2008 campaign. It consists of fantasies that never become reality because his leadership is non-existent. In 2008 Obama ran on the slogan “Hope and Change”, and he convinced a majority of voters that he could give them hope and change. Sadly, he only gave them change, and took away their hopes. Even worse, not everyone likes the change that Obama gave them. A line from a play seems completely appropriate to describe it.
Obama says he wants voters to look forward to a glorious future. He’d better hope that those voters don’t ask what play that line came from. It was from John Osborne’s play Look Back in Anger. “Runnin’ Down Our Dreams”
(music by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers)
GUITAR RIFF
We want a beautiful day..
With unemployment down..
Wanna turn the radio on..
And hear the economy’s thrivin’..
But the truth don’t hide..
Even with Barry laughin’ & singin’..
Things are slippin’ away..
But he keeps a lyin’..
CHORUS:
Yeah Runnin’ Down Our Dreams..
He never did impress me..
His resume’s a real mystery..
Over the cliff is where it’ll lead..
Runnin’ Down Our Dreams 😦
We used to feel so good..
Like anything was possible..
Reagan hit cruise control..
We watched our nation rise..
But these last 3 years..
The pain’s been unstoppable..
The economy ice cold..
No sunshine..
He’s Runnin’ Down Our Dreams..
Hopeychange was comical to me..
How to fix things ain’t a mystery..
He never should’ve got to lead..
Runnin’ Down Our Dreams 😦
The USA rolls on..
As the November sky grows dark..
But Romney/Ryan puttin’ the pedal down..
Gotta get it right this time..
There’s something good..
Waitin’ down this road..
We’re stickin’ up..
For LadyLiberty this time!
No more Runnin’ Down Our Dreams..
He never did impress me..
His accomplishments are a mystery..
We’re crazy if we follow his lead..
Runnin Down Our Dreams 😦

| Congress’ nonpartisan budget analysts are projecting a $1.1 trillion federal deficit for 2012, the fourth straight year the government’s shortfall will exceed $1 trillion.
The Congressional Budget Office also says it expects the economy to continue recovering at only a modest rate the rest of this year, growing at a modest annual rate of 2.25 percent. The slow-moving economy and massive federal deficits are top-flight issues in this year’s presidential and congressional campaigns. The budget office repeated a warning it made earlier this year, saying the long-term fiscal outlook is uncertain. That’s because no one knows how President Obama and Congress will resolve their standoff over extending expiring tax cuts for the rich and over sweeping spending cuts that will be triggered in January unless Congress blocks them. |

I heard the Congressman Akin’s interview with Sean Hannity on the Hannity radio program today. Akin’s selfish and defiant attitude fly in the face of his reasons given for staying in the race at this time. Akin’s statement that Gov. Romney should mind his own business hurts the GOP as a party that is fractured, unable to come together and unite as a party. Hannity was right on in telling the Congressman that the media is not fair — while Akin’s “gaffe” would have been given a pass by the media if he were a democrat, the republicans are unfairly held to a different standard and a simple apology will never work. This issue will undoubtedly continue to drag down the entire GOP as another distraction played up unfairly by the media right up until election day.
Note to Michelle: don’t mess with the Golden Arches.Olympic gold medal gymnast Gabby Douglas appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last week, where she told Leno that after winning her medal, she “splurged on an Egg McMuffin at McDonald’s.” Unfortunately for Douglas, she was sitting on the same set as Food Police Commissar Michelle Obama, who quickly chided her for not eating healthy. “No Gabby,” she tut-tutted, “we don’t … don’t encourage. I’m sure it was on a whole wheat muffin … You’re setting me back, Gabby!” The implication: McDonald’s is the root of all food evil. Now McDonald’s is fighting back. McDonald’s had already co-sponsored the Olympic Games to the tune of $100 million, specifically pushing its “Favorites Under 400” dishes, an attempt to get people to eat foods under 400 calories. And the Egg McMuffin clocks in at a robust 300 calories. “We are working hard to continue to provide our valued customers – Olympians and others alike – with great tasting, quality food and beverage options in a variety of portion sizes to fit any dietary needs,” explained McDonald’s director of communications, Dayna Proud. And dietary specialists say that it’s not out of line for Douglas to chow down on the McMuffin – she needs protein, and her calorie intake is higher than that of non-Olympic athletes. President Obama and his wife have already made clear their distaste for the business community. Attacking one of America’s most beloved institutions by lecturing one of America’s most beloved athletes is – no pun intended – in bad taste. |
| President Barack Obama has added military heroes to his “enemies list,” singling out veterans’ groups such as Special Operations for America and Veterans for a Strong America on his campaign website, much as he singled out donors to Republican rival Mitt Romney for attack. Several veterans’ groups have spoken out against the Obama administration’s habit of taking credit for the Osama bin Laden raid and leaking military secrets for political gain–so the Obama campaign is trying to shoot the messenger.
The charge made by the Obama campaign is that the veterans’ groups are “Swift Boat 2.0”–referring to the group that launched a series of ads (never refuted) in 2008 contesting claims by then-Democrat presidential candidate John Kerry about his war record. Left-wing groups aligned with the Obama administration have even gone so far as to call the U.S. Navy Seals “gutless” for their participation in criticism of Obama. Ryan Zinke, a member of the Montana state Senate and a U.S. Navy SEAL from 1985 to 2008, told Breitbart News: “It’s a sad time for America when a President has to resort to bully tactics, intimidation, and misleading personal attacks against anyone who dares to speak out and be heard. The good thing is Americans have a long history of defeating tyrants.” Joel Arends, recipient of the Bronze Star and chair of Veterans for a Strong America, said:

Nine-year-old Michael Lakind was one of 54 children from around the country whose recipe was picked as a winner in first lady Michelle Obama’s Healthy Lunchtime Challenge. Lakind and the other winners were invited to attend a “state dinner” at the White House on Monday where they were served “Yummy Cabbage Sloppy Joes,” baked zucchini “fries,” kale “chips” and salad of quinoa, black beans and corn. But when an NBC reporter asked what his favorite food is, Lakind was quick to respond – “steak.”
More than 500 economists — including five Nobel laureates — have endorsed Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s economic plan as the right choice for jobs creation and economic growth.
The pro-Romney group “Economists for Romney” announced Monday that its statement of support for the former Massachusetts governor’s economic plan now has 526 signatories, up from 400 a week ago.
“We enthusiastically endorse Governor Mitt Romney’s economic plan to create jobs and restore economic growth while returning America to its tradition of economic freedom,” Economists for Romney’s statement of support reads, proclaiming Romney’s plan as based on “proven principles” to restrain the federal government and expand opportunities in the private sector.
The 526 economists — including Nobel laureates Gary Becker, Robert Lucas, Robert Mundell, Edward Prescott, and Myron Scholes — point to six facets of Romney’s economic approach that they see as beneficial to future economic success.
- Reduce marginal tax rates on business and wage incomes and broaden the tax base to increase investment, jobs, and living standards.
- End the exploding federal debt by controlling the growth of spending so federal spending does not exceed 20 percent of the economy.
- Restructure regulation to end “too big to fail,” improve credit availability to entrepreneurs and small businesses, and increase regulatory accountability, and ensure that all regulations pass rigorous benefit-cost tests.
- Improve our Social Security and Medicare programs by reducing their growth to sustainable levels, ensuring their viability over the long term, and protecting those in or near retirement.
- Reform our healthcare system to harness market forces and thereby reduce costs and increase quality, empowering patients and doctors, rather than the federal bureaucracy.
- Promote energy policies that increase domestic production, enlarge the use of all western hemisphere resources, encourage the use of new technologies, end wasteful subsidies, and rely more on market forces and less on government planners.
Seven of the signatories are from Harvard University and five from Columbia University — two of President Barack Obama’s alma maters.
The economists’ statement of support pillories Obama’s economic record, claiming that his expansion of the federal government has resulted in “anemic economic recovery and high unemployment,” which will continue if his future plans are implemented.
Among the Obama policies with which the 526 economists take issue include:
- Relied on short-term “stimulus” programs, which provided little sustainable lift to the economy, and enacted and proposed significant tax increases for all Americans.
- Offered no plan to reduce federal spending and stop the growth of the debt-to-GDP ratio.
- Failed to propose Social Security reform and offered a Medicare proposal that relies on a panel of bureaucrats to set prices, quantities, and qualities of healthcare services.
- Favored a large expansion of economic regulation across many sectors, with little regard for proper cost-benefit analysis and with a disturbing degree of favoritism toward special interests.
- Enacted health care legislation that centralizes health care decisions and increases the power of the federal bureaucracy to impose one-size-fits-all solutions on patients and doctors, and creates greater incentives for waste.
- Favored expansion of one-size-fits-all federal rulemaking, with an erosion of the ability of state and local governments to make decisions appropriate for their particular circumstances.

“It is clear that Big Labor is banking on the probability that all healthcare workers eventually become federal, state, and municipal healthcare employees,” Loos told Factor. That, he said, would make them eligible for involuntary unionization through public-sector unions like AFSCME and the SEIU.
“Obamacare is an SEIU and AFSCME membership ‘net,’” Loos claimed, “designed to eventually capture 21 million forced-dues paying government workers.” New health care jobs created by Obamacare, he said, will eventually be filled by “federal, state, and municipal healthcare employees.”
The Obamacare law, once fully implemented, will dramatically increase the number of health care workers receiving payment for their services through government programs, including Medicaid and so-called “public option” government-run insurance plans.
“The government employee unions can then enlist pro-union state governments to treat these health care workers as ‘government employees,’” Factor told The Daily Caller, “and unionize them just like they unionized the care providers” themselves.
“For every million additional health care workers unionized in the 27 non-right-to-work states,” he told TheDC, “the unions stand to earn $1 billion in dues.”
Factor writes in “Shadowbosses” that Canada’s national health care system has provided an apt example. Heritage Foundation labor economist James Sherk told him that “60 percent of Canadian health care workers and a stunning 80 percent of nurses belong to unions — more than quadruple the levels in America.”
Only 10 percent of them were union members before the advent of socialized medicine in Canada, Factor said.

“OBAMA WENT DOWN TO DC”
(music by The Charlie Daniels Band)
Obama went down to DC, he was lookin’ for a nation’s soul to steal,
He was one of a kind in his own mind, a commie-lib with mainstream appeal.
When he came across this hockey-mom citin’ the Constitution and lookin’ hot,
Barry jumped up on a campaign stump, and said “folks let me tell you what.”
I guess you didn’t know it, but I’m a community organizer too,
And if you’d care to take my dare, I’ll give free things to you.
Now John McCain’s a war hero, but give Barack his due,
I bet my hopeychange against your McLame, that if I win America’s through!
A man said my name’s Joe-the-plumber and it might be a sin,
If you take my wealth and spread it to someone else, then try & tell me that’s a win?!
Chorus:
Tea Party risin’ up says NO! and Fox News reportin’ hard,
Cause liberals are loose in DC, and the Dems hold all the cards.
And if they win Pelosi will bang her gavel made of gold,
And Harry Reid will sell the Senate’s soul…
Obama fired up his teleprompter and he said “I’ll start this show,”
And lies spewed from his smilin’ lips as he blamed us with low blows.
And he apologized around the globe and the Tea Party made an evil hiss,
Then a band of czars joined in, and the media spun it somethin’ like this…
When 2010 was finished, Boehner said “well let’s put the brakes on ol’ son,”
And sit down in that chair right there and let the GOP show you how it’s done!
Fire in the primary, run candidates run…
Bitter-clingers in the house with their bibles & guns…
Michelle’s in the bread pan, deep fryin’ dough…
Granny’s in the west wing, no nursing home no…
Obama bowed his head because he knew that he’d been beat,
And he unplugged his trusty teleprompter and bagged his golf clubs in defeat.
Mitt said, “Obama don’t come on back if you ever think about what could’ve been,”
“I done told you once you SON-OF-A-BITCH, the USA is the best that’s ever been!!

Top Romney adviser Eric Fehrnstrom brushed aside questions Sunday about presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s tax returns, telling CNN that the issue is not relevant.

Mr. Romney has released his 2010 tax return and has promised to release his 2011 return, but the Obama campaign and its Democratic supporters have called for a more comprehensive financial disclosure by the former Massachusetts governor, a multimillionaire.

“Arabic media call them ‘supporters,’ ‘followers’ and ‘partisans’ of the Muslim Brotherhood,” Ibraham said.
Ibrahim also says the victims can be anyone, including Egyptian Christians.
“It’s anyone who is resisting the new government,” Ibrahim said. “In this particular case, the people attacked and crucified were secular protesters upset because of Morsi’s hostile campaign against the media, especially of Tawfik Okasha, who was constantly exposing him on his station, until Morsi shut him down.”
Ibrahim said extra brutality is reserved for Christians, but the crucifixions are because of Islamic doctrine and are required by the Quran. The time and other details about the crucifixions were not readily available.

OBAMA BURIES GRANDPA JOE!: NO SWING STATES FOR GAFFE-PRONE VEEPThe Obama campaign will send Joe Biden to three safe blue states next week, a move indicating the campaign may fear the effect of the vice president’s increasingly frequent gaffes. Last week, in the critical swing state of Virgina, whose 13 electoral votes President Barack Obama must secure to win reelection, Biden was a headline-making machine. In Danville, a city with a past history of racial strife, Biden told a half-black audience that Republicans were “gonna put y’all back in chains.” He also forgot that he was in Virginia, rejoicing, “We can win North Caolina again.” He mocked a sign-language interpreter, forgot what century he was in. |
| So much for the Democratic talking point that Ryan’s an extremist on the budget…
The other half of the Simpson-Bowles commission gave an interview Friday in which he praised Paul Ryan as “a spokesman of hard truth against fakery.” Alan Simpson, the former Senator from Wyoming who co-chaired the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform with Democrat Erskine Bowles, is a fan of the new Republican vice presidential nominee. With Simpson’s positive comments Friday, both co-chairs of the commission on which Ryan served have now praised his efforts. In 2011, Erskine Bowles said of Ryan, “He is honest. He is straightforward. He is sincere. And, the budget that he came forward with is just like Paul Ryan. It is a sensible, straightforward, serious budget.” Bowles went on to say he didn’t agree with all of Ryan’s policy proposals — but he certainly never labeled Ryan extreme. The commission was created by President Obama in 2010. Despite this, President Obama did not embrace the recommendations. In fact, when asked why the commission’s report was not adopted, Bowles blamed President Obama’s disinterest in the proposals. |

(CNN) – Artur Davis, the former four-term Democratic congressman from Alabama who co-chaired President Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign, introduced the running mate of Obama’s Republican challenger in Virginia Friday.
“Are you ready to meet the next vice president of the United States?” Davis asked at a rally in Springfield, Virginia. It was Ryan’s second event of the day. He held a rally outside Richmond on Friday morning.
In his introduction, Davis pointed to Ryan’s age – he’s 42 – as having energized the GOP. Davis is 44.
“Remember a week ago, some of our Democratic friends had the illusion that we were kind of an older party. That were the party of the last generation. One week later I’m the oldest man on this stage right now,” Davis said. “What a difference a week makes.”
Davis, who said in May he was switching parties from Democrat to Republican, said he had only disagreed with Ryan on one subject: the status of Led Zeppelin as the “#1 band of the modern era.”
“I questioned you as you said it. As a Genesis man, I questioned it,” Davis said.
He also praised Ryan’s willingness to advance a House GOP budget that included sometimes-unpopular cuts to programs in the name of cutting the federal debt.
“President Romney is going to have a vice president who believes, in a town where no one takes responsibility for anything, Washington D.C., this man wrote a budget with tough, hard, necessary choices. He put his name on it,” Davis said.

A young lady addresses the vile MSNBC host who made profoundly inappropriate accusations against Romney. Good for her!
CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: ROMNEY’S PRESENT, RYAN’S FUTUREPublished Friday, August 17, 2012 Vice presidential picks are always judged by their effect on the coming election. They rarely have any. This time could be different. The Democrats’ Medicare barrage is already in full swing. Paul Ryan, it seems, is determined to dispossess grandma, then toss her over a cliff. If the charge is not successfully countered, goodbye Florida. Republicans have a twofold answer. First, hammer home that their plan affects no one over 55, let alone 65. Second, go on offense. Point out that President Obama cuts Medicare by $700 billion to finance Obamacare. It’s a sweet judo throw: Want to bring up Medicare, supposedly our weakness? Fine. But now you’ve got to debate Obamacare, your weakness — and explain why you are robbing granny’s health care to pay for your pet project. If Romney/Ryan can successfully counterattack Mediscare, the Ryan effect becomes a major plus. Because:(A) Ryan nationalizes the election and makes it ideological, reprising the 2010 dynamic that delivered a “shellacking” to the Democrats. (B) If the conversation is about big issues, Obama cannot hide from his dismal economic record and complete failure of vision. In Obama’s own on-camera commercial — “the choice … couldn’t be bigger” — what’s his big idea? A 4.6 point increase in the marginal tax rate of 2 percent of the population. That’s it? That’s his program? For a country with stagnant growth, ruinous debt and structural problems crying out for major entitlement and tax reform? Obama’s “plan” would cut the deficit from $1.20 trillion to $1.12 trillion. It’s a joke. (C) Image. Ryan, fresh and 42, brings youth, energy and vitality — the very qualities Obama projected in 2008 and has by now depleted. “Hope and change” has become “the other guy killed a steelworker’s wife.” From transcendence to the political gutter in under four years. A new Olympic record. While Ryan’s effect on 2012 is as yet undetermined — it depends on the success or failure of Medicare — there is less doubt about the meaning of Ryan’s selection for beyond 2012. He could well become the face of Republicanism for a generation. There’s a history here. By choosing George H.W. Bush in 1980, Ronald Reagan gave birth to a father-son dynasty that dominated the presidential scene for three decades. The Bush name was on six of seven consecutive national tickets. When Dwight Eisenhower picked Richard Nixon in 1952, he turned a relatively obscure senator into a dominant national figure for a quarter-century, appearing on the presidential ticket in five of six consecutive elections. Even losing VP candidates can ascend to party leader and presumptive presidential nominee. Ed Muskie so emerged in 1968, until he melted down in New Hampshire in 1972. Walter Mondale so emerged in 1980 and won the presidential nomination four years later. (The general election was another story.) Winning is even better. Forty percent of 20th-century presidents were former VPs: Theodore Roosevelt, Coolidge, Truman, Johnson, Nixon, Ford and Bush (41). Before Aug. 11, Ryan already was the party’s intellectual leader and de facto parliamentary leader — youngest-ever House Budget Committee chairman whose fiscal blueprint has driven congressional debate for two years. Now, however, he is second only to Romney as the party’s undisputed political leader. And while Romney is the present, Ryan is the future. Romney’s fate will be determined on Nov. 6. Ryan’s presence, assuming he acquits himself well in the campaign, will extend for decades. Ryan’s importance is enhanced by his identity as a movement conservative. Reagan was the first movement leader in modern times to achieve the presidency. Like him, Ryan represents a new kind of conservatism for his time. Reagan rejected the moderate accommodationism represented by Gerald Ford, the sitting President Reagan nearly overthrew in 1976. Ryan represents a new constitutional conservatism of limited government and individual opportunity that carried Republicans to victory in 2010, not just as a rejection of Obama’s big-government hyper-liberalism but also as a significant departure from the philosophically undisciplined, idiosyncratically free-spending “compassionate conservatism” of Obama’s Republican predecessor. Ryan’s role is to make the case for a serious approach to structural problems — a hardheaded, sober-hearted conservatism that puts to shame a reactionary liberalism that, with Greece in our future, offers handouts, bromides and a 4.6 percent increase in tax rates. If Ryan does it well, win or lose in 2012, he becomes a dominant national force. Mild and moderate Mitt Romney will have shaped the conservative future for years to come. The cunning of history. Or if you prefer, sheer capriciousness. |
In what appears to have been a coordinated action Thursday evening, Occupy protesters in Portland, Oregon and Oakland, California staged protests and have occupied the offices of Obama campaign headquarters in both locations. |

Warren, Ohio
Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan stopped by the Original Hot Dog Shoppe here this afternoon to chat with voters and grab some lunch. The Wisconsin congressman and fitness nut chowed down on two hot dogs with onion, extra kraut and mustard, a side of small chili-cheese fries, and an unsweetened iced tea. The total bill came to $8.78, including a chili-cheese dog Ryan purchased for a reporter celebrating his twenty-seventh birthday.
The well-wisher, Erma from Howland, Ohio, told me later that she’s not worried that Ryan and Romney would end Medicare. “I don’t believe it,” she said. “Because Obama has a bigger plan to rob Medicare of $617 billion.”
“We better worry about Obamacare before we worry about Ryan,” added Erma, a self-described conservative. Erma wasn’t the only conservative senior citizen at the Original Hot Dog Shoppe to demonstrate that the party faithful have absorbed the Medicare message being pushed by the Romney-Ryan campaign this week.
“Oh, don’t believe none of that stuff,” Eleanor Costantino, a senior citizen from Warren, told me when I asked her if she was worried about Romney-Ryan taking away Medicare. “It’s all nothing but a bunch of lies!”
“He’s going to save Medicare,” chimed in Eleanor’s friend Karen Combs from Cortland, Ohio. “There’s $700 billion under Obamacare coming out of Medicare, and seniors should be more frightened over that.”
Combs says she hasn’t voted for a Democrat since the 1970s, while Eleanor Costantino told me she became a Republican more recently.
Young illegal immigrants around the nation on Wednesday began the process of applying for federal work permits under the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
The federal policy defers deportations for that group if they meet certain criteria, including arrival in the United States before they turned 16 and no convictions for certain crimes.
After President Barack Obama announced the policy change in June, Brewer labeled it “backdoor amnesty” and political pandering by the Democratic president.
Arizona has been in the vanguard of states enacting laws against illegal immigration.

The Democrat Party and Congressional Black Caucus are helping our Mr. Obama quite well, Romney’s help is not needed!

On Thursday’s edition of MSNBC’s The Cyclethe group discussed Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney‘s assertion that President Obama should “take [his] campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago.” Co-host Touré saw what he believes to be explicit racial connotations beneath what Romney was saying, calling it the “niggerization” of the campaign.
“That really bothered me,” he said. “You notice he said anger twice. He’s really trying to use racial coding and access some really deep stereotypes about the angry black man. This is part of the playbook against Obama, the ‘otherization,’ he’s not like us.”
“I know it’s a heavy thing, I don’t say it lightly, but this is ‘niggerization,’” Touré said to the apparent shock of his co-panelists. “You are not one of us, you are like the scary black man who we’ve been trained to fear.”
Naturally this led to a battle between Touré and conservative co-host S.E. Cupp. She took particular issue with the fact that Touré admitted that VP Joe Biden‘s “chains” comments were divisive, but is now calling Romney a “racist” for saying the Obama campaign is “angry.”
“Do you see how dishonest that is?” she asked.

| Day 1: Des Moines.
Obama visited the Iowa State Fair so he could see the fairgrounds’ famous Bud Tent for beers. A great photo-op was set up; Obama buys a round for beer-drinking buddies who can chortle “four more beers!” But wait; Mike Cunningham II, the third-generation owner, was not happy; the tent had to undergo a full Secret Service sweep of the area, which meant he was out of business for two hours, costing him roughly $25,000 in revenue, which Cunningham called making a “campaign contribution against my will. I wouldn’t have voted for him before. I won’t again.” Obama wasting other people’s money for a photo-op? Who’d dream of such a thing? Day 2: A wind farm in central Iowa. Obama wanted to highlight his support for tax credits for the wind energy industry, which Mitt Romney opposes. Another great photo-op? Well… Jeff Heil, the owner of the farm, and his son Jarret, who is a registered Republican and former staffer for Sen. Chuck Grassley, quietly stated they weren’t voting for Obama either: “It is important to not get caught up in the president’s glamorous re-election words and remember President Obama’s first term record and rhetoric do not represent Middle America, entrepreneurs, small business owners and farmers,” Jarret Heil said. Day 3: Davenport. At the Obama event, which was catered by the Village Corner Deli, the Deli’s owner, Ross Murty, wore a black T-shirt with big, bold white letters that read, “Government didn’t build my business. I did.” |
A few days ago I received a call from a man I recently met named George. He was a bit flustered, and soon informed me that his young son was sick with a chest condition. He pleaded with me to send him $1,000 to cover the medical bills. Since George was at the hospital I asked him to let me speak to a nurse, and she confirmed that George’s son was indeed ill. So I agreed to send George the money through Western Union. He was profusely grateful. But before I hung up I asked George, “Why are you coming to me?” He said, “I have no one else to ask.” Then he said something that astounded me, “Dinesh, you are like a brother to me.”
Actually, George has a real life brother who just happens to be the president of the United States. (George Obama is the youngest of eight children sired by Barack Obama Sr.) George’s brother is a multimillionaire and the most powerful man in the world. Moreover, George’s brother has framed his re-election campaign around the “fair share” theme that we owe obligations to those who are less fortunate.
One of Obama’s favorite phrases comes right out of the Bible: “We are our brother’s keeper.” Yet he has not contributed a penny to help his own brother. And evidently George does not believe, even in times of emergency, that he can turn to his brother in the White House for help.
So much for spreading the wealth around.
Obama’s refusal to help George is especially surprising because George doesn’t just live in American-style poverty but rather in Third World poverty. He lives in a shanty in the Huruma slum in Nairobi. He gets by on a few dollars a month. Obama also has an aunt named Hawa Auma, his father’s sister, who ekes out a living selling coal on the streets of a small village in Kenya. She says she would like to have her teeth fixed, but she cannot afford it. Obama hasn’t offered to help her either.
What’s going on here? Why is President Obama so hesitant to help family members in need?
A couple of years ago, George teamed up with a British journalist Damien Lewis and the two of them published George’s story in a book called “Homeland.” Yet according to Lewis, shortly before the book’s publication in America, the publisher Simon & Schuster decided to shred the entire print run, more than 20,000 copies. Lewis tried unsuccessfully to get an explanation from Simon & Schuster but to no avail. He now suspects that the White House convinced Simon & Schuster that George’s story might prove embarrassing to the president.
In 2010, George also applied for a visa to come to the United States and was refused. While George confesses that in his younger years he was a delinquent, he has never been convicted of any crime. Moreover, he has a very good reason to visit the United States: his mother Jael Otieno lives in Atlanta. So why would the U. S. embassy in Nairobi refuse a tourist visa to the brother of the president who just wants to spend time with his mother?
In the past few days, an article has been circulating on the web that depicts George as a social undesirable. First published in the London Daily Mail, the article portrays George as a habitual drunk and philanderer. I spent a day with George this past February while interviewing him for my documentary film 2016: Obama’s America. I can attest that George is not an innocent. If he had been, he would not have survived life in the Huruma slum. Yes, George is street smart and cunning and I did smell alcohol on his breath.
But so what? George may be a drinker and a skirt-chaser but, as becomes clear from his book, he is also a survivor. He has overcome his past as a gang-member and petty thief and now works as the organizer of a slum soccer league. He is trying to uplift himself, and he is trying to help slum kids aspire to a better life. On balance, Lewis assures me, “George is not a bad guy. He is on the side of the angels.”
But even if Lewis is wrong, and George exhibits some harmful cultural pathologies, the liberal argument—one that Obama himself makes in his book “The Audacity of Hope” — is that the cultural pathologies of the poor are themselves the product of social disadvantage.
Barack Obama Jr. first met George in 1987, when George was five years old. He met George again in 2006 when he visited Kenya as a U.S. Senator from Illinois; George was then in his early twenties. Had Obama helped George along the way, perhaps this young man would not have ended up dirt-poor and living such a degraded life.
So what’s the real story here? Where’s George Obama’s “fair share”? George’s tragic situation exposes President Obama as a hypocrite. Here is a man who demands that others pay higher taxes to help the poor—even poor people who are not related to them—while Obama himself refuses to help a close relative like George.
Yet I believe there is a deeper explanation that goes beyond hypocrisy for why Obama wants nothing to do with George. After all, it would cost Obama so little to raise George out of poverty, and yet he won’t do it. This isn’t mere negligence; it suggests an active animus. The reason for that animus emerges in George’s book and also in my interview with George in the film 2016. In that interview, George rejects the anti-colonial philosophy that was espoused by Barack Obama Sr. This is the “dream from my father” that President Obama celebrates in his own autobiography.
From the record of their lives and writings, it’s clear that Barack Obama Sr. and Barack Obama Jr. both share the anti-colonial view that blames Western colonial exploitation for the poverty and suffering of the Third World. Yet George doesn’t buy it. He observes that at the time of its independence in the early 1960s “Kenya was on an economic par with Malaysia or Singapore. Look where we are now, and where they are. They’re practically developed and industrialized, while Kenya is still a basket case.” George believes that poor countries should take responsibility for their own situation. “What’s our excuse for failure? We don’t have one. We’ve only got ourselves to blame.”
Incredible though it seems, George Obama is, within the context of his own society, a conservative. He doesn’t worship at the shrine of Barack Obama Sr. and he espouses an ideology diametrically opposed to that of his father and his famous brother. George has experienced first-hand the empty rhetoric of the two Baracks, and he rejects it based on his actual experience of Third World poverty.
No wonder President Obama despises George, doesn’t want him around, doesn’t care to hear George’s views circulated in America, and won’t lift a finger to help him even when George’s son is in the hospital.
So that’s why George Obama felt he had to call me. He had no one else to call. He reached out to me in his time of need because he felt he couldn’t call on his real life sibling living at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
That’s how I got to be, if only metaphorically and for a short time, George Obama’s “brother.”
Dinesh D’Souza, narrator and co-director of the film “2016 – Obama’s America,” is also the author of the new book “Obama’s America,” published this week by Regnery.

| The August 15 shooting of a security guard at the Washington HQ of the Family Research Council didn’t spark the same hyperbolic claims from the Old Media establishment that politics is at the root of this violence. The shooter has ties to the gay rights community. No calls for investigations were made, no individual politicians were accused of fostering a “violent atmosphere,” and no particular ideology was blamed as the cause of this crime. |

Joe Biden is now presenting himself as a Nascar type. In Stuart, Va. for a campaign stop, Mensa Joe learned that one of the patrons of the Coffee Break Cafe, Glen Wood, was the owner of the car that won the Daytona 500 in 2011. Entering the café, Biden told a photographer to “Get out of the way, man” so he could approach Wood.Biden then held court, bloviating, “I heard somebody in here won the Daytona!” Having secured the crowd’s attention, Mensa Joe continued, “This guy did what I dreamed of, man. I’d trade being vice-president in a heartbeat for having won Daytona.” Nascar fans around the world must be puking. Nascar types hate horsepuckey more than they hate metrosexuals driving Priuses, and the idea of Biden voluntarily relinquishing his post as vice-president for anything less than a million dollar hairpiece is ludicrous. Nascar fans generally want the government to leave them the hell alone, too, which makes for some distance between them and anything that Mensa Joe says. But considering that the Democrats are desperately trying to reach constituencies that they have traditionally disparaged, what will Mensa Joe pretend to be if his boss sends him to court the military? |

A gunman, posing as an intern, entered the The Family Research Council and shot a security guard. The FRC is a conservative pro-life and pro-traditional marriage organization which has been labelled as a hate group by leftists and gay rights organization in recent days. The gunman may have had more sinister motives toward FRC employees.
http://www.lifenews.com/2012/08/15/security-guard-shot-at-pro-life-groups-dc-headquarters/
A security guard was shot this morning at the headquarters of the pro-life group Family Research Council, and the shooter has been apprehended while police officials investigate the act of violence.
According to information provided to LifeNews, a man posing as an intern shot the guard at the FRC office located at 801 G Street, NW. FRC staffer Anna Maria Hoffman added more information on Twitter, “Our security guard Leo [Johnson] got shot in the arm. Please keep him in your prayers.”
Family Research Council President Tony Perkins confirmed the security officer was shot and said in a statement, “The police are investigating this incident. Our first concern is with our colleague who was shot today. Our concern is for him and his family.”
According to a Fox News report: “A suspect walked in and started yelling about things they (FRC) supported & opened fire.”
The suspect, a 28-year-old male from Virginia named Floyd Corkins, “made statements regarding their policies, and then opened fire with a gun striking a security guard,” a source told Fox News.
AP later confirmed that Corkins is a liberal activist who volunteers with a left-wing group in the D.C. area.
While the White House has yet to respond, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney commented on the shooting, saying: “I am appalled by the shooting today at the offices of the Family Research Council in our nation’s capital. There is no place for such violence in our society. My prayers go out to the wounded security guard and his family, as well as all the people at the Family Research Council whose sense of security has been shattered by today’s horrific events.”
UPDATE: Not until after 6:30 p.m. ET did the White House respond. Obama finally commented, saying “this type of violence has no place in our society.” But a CNN tweet indicated, “WH says Pres. Obama was notified at 1:18pm of the Family Research Council shooting by national sec. adviser John Brennan.”
Ahem…that “left-wing group” the AP kind of mentions…
A man suspected of shooting and wounding a security guard in the lobby of a Christian lobbying group had been volunteering at a community center for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.
A law enforcement official has identified the suspect arrested in Wednesday’s shooting as Floyd Corkins II of Herndon, Va. Investigators were interviewing his neighbors.
Another official says the shooter made a negative reference about the work of the Family Research Council before opening fire. The officials spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to discuss the ongoing investigation.
David Mariner is executive director of The DC Center for the LGBT Community. He says Corkins had been volunteering at the center for about the past 6 months. Mariner describes Corkins as “kind, gentle and unassuming.”
CNN managed to stay away from the story entirely for more than two hours despite the fact that FRC’s offices are less than a mile from their D.C. bureau. The Huffington Post‘s afternoon e-mailed Capitol Hill report mentioned nary a word about the shooting. The Washington Post noted the suspected shooter “expressed disagreement” with the organization’s positions.
Talking Points Memo, a left-leaning reported blog, should be commended for staying with the story all day long, thoroughly and doggedly. Ryan J. Reilly was the reporter on this, and his headline goes further than any I’ve seen in addressing the shooter’s possible motivations: “Family Research Council shooter allegedly motivated by group’s anti-gay stances”
Frankly, if the media covered all these shootings with a modicum of the circumspection it showed today, I’d be happy. Gabriel Malor has a list of all the times the media has blamed violence on the right and turned out to be wrong. It’s not pretty. Unfortunately, that circumspection seems to be reserved for people shooting up conservative organizations and people yelling “Allahu Akbar,” whose motives cannot possibly be divined.
To illustrate the double standard, all you have to do is replace one letter of this story. FRC becomes HRC, the Human Rights Campaign. Please tell me CNN would have missed that story for several hours or that the media would studiously have noted, over and over, that police had no clues as to the motive of the shooter.
Conservatives should certainly point out this double standard, but I’d caution us not to go down the same road the Left has. For instance, the Southern Poverty Law Center, in all its idiocy, labels Family Research Council a “hate” group, which is ludicrous and intolerant. But that didn’t cause a probably crazy person to shoot up an advocacy group. They should be pressed to live by their own rhetoric rules— new tone!— but I get nervous when anyone starts saying political speech is responsible for any subsequent physical violence.
Obama finally reacted to the shooting this evening, through Press Secretary Jay Carney reporting to the press pool. He used what appears to be the subject line from Mitt Romney’s 2:14 p.m. e-mailed statement on the incident.
Paul Ryan on solutions that stand in solidarity with the poor
At 25:00…
“Let’s go back to our roots, see what made our country great, look at those awesome principles that founded this country, liberty, freedom, free enterprise, self determination, government by consent of the governed, local involvement and control, and let’s try to reapply those so we can get back to the idea of America. Our rights come from nature and God, not from government — they come before government. The role of government, at least it has been until now, has been to promote equal opportunity so we can make the most of our lives and pursue happiness however we define it for ourselves so long as we’re not infringing on another person’s right to do the same. The role of government should not be moved towards trying to equalize the result of our lives. If you believe in equal outcomes versus equal opportunities, then you’d have to have a much larger government. The problem is you end up running out of other people’s money to spend and you have a debt crisis. That’s what we want to avoid. ” …

…This is why this election is critical and Romney must prevail. We are under attack from within. In light of that, it was great news Saturday morning when Romney announced that Paul Ryan was his choice to be the Republican candidate for vice president. What a clear and clean message. Despite the media’s war on American exceptionalism, capitalism, individual rights, business and businessman, the producers, the family, and conservatism, Romney did not blink. He picked an uncompromised conservative (and in doing so gave the media the middle finger).
I love Ryan. It’s an inspired choice. Romney chose well. The campaign is clearly defined. Anti-American vs pro-American. That’s it. It’s not restore America, it’s free her.
This is a very good sign of things to come. Let’s hope also that Romney doesn’t blink before CAIR on his meeting with Boykin, and that that meeting is a sign he will pursue a realistic and patriotic policy of resisting the global jihad and Islamic supremacism. Hope! Change! Pray!
| The American left is the most self-indulgent, arrogant, and spoiled group of people on the face of the earth. They live in a nation facing national bankruptcy and societal upheaval — a country presently subsisting on the residue of past economic achievements. Yet the only things that matter to them are their lifestyles and imposing their self-determined superiority on rest of the American people. The true indebtedness of the United States now exceeds $222 trillion. Appearing on National Public Radio in August of 2011 Professor Laurence J. Kotlikoff of Boston University said:
Since that interview, the indebtedness has increased by another $11 trillion. Yet these estimates do not include the full impact of ObamaCare, which could add another $17+ trillion. On the other side of the ledger: the annual Gross Domestic Product (the value of all economic activity in the U.S.) is $15.6 trillion. The indebtedness to GDP ratio is a staggering 14.2 to 1 and guaranteed to further accelerate if Barack Obama is re-elected. |

| Mitt Romney used a tough new campaign speech to personally blast the Obama campaign on Tuesday, saying comments earlier in the day from Vice President Biden are “what an angry and desperate Presidency looks like.”
“Mr. President, take your campaign of division and anger and hate back to Chicago,” Romney said while campaigning in Ohio. Romney was responding to Biden’s suggestion that the GOP ticket’s economic policies would “put y’all back in chains.” The vice president made the remark while campaigning in Virginia, during a discussion of Wall Street regulation. “They’ve said it. Every Republican’s voted for it. Look at what they value and look at their budget and what they’re proposing. Romney wants to let the — he said in the first 100 days, he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules — unchain Wall Street,” Biden said. “They’re going to put y’all back in chains. He’s said he’s going to do nothing about stopping the practice of outsourcing.” Romney repeatedly and harshly criticized Team Obama for the remarks. “His campaign and his surrogates have made wild and reckless accusations that disgrace the office of the Presidency. Another outrageous charge came a few hours ago in Virginia. And the White House sinks a little bit lower,” Romney said. “This is an election in which we should be talking about the path ahead, but you don’t hear any answers coming from President Obama’s re-election campaign. That’s because he’s intellectually exhausted, out of ideas, and out of energy. And so his campaign has resorted to diversions and distractions, to demagoguing and defaming others. This is an old game in politics; what’s different this year is that the president is taking things to a new low.” Romney’s remarks echo those of his campaign spokeswoman, who earlier in the day called Biden’s remarks a “new low.” The counter-punches mark a much tougher tone from Team Romney, who have criticized the Obama campaign before, particularly over a controversial ad by pro-Obama super PAC Priorities USA Action that links Romney to a woman’s death, but never in such blunt or harsh terms. The commercial aired for the first time Tuesday on a television station in Cleveland. Romney made his remarks in Chillicothe, Ohio. The Buckeye state is one of the most important in the election. No Republican has ever won the presidency without winning Ohio.Obama campaign spokesman Ben LaBolt said Romney seemed “unhinged.” “Governor Romney’s comments tonight seemed unhinged, and particularly strange coming at a time when he’s pouring tens of millions of dollars into negative ads that are demonstrably false,” LaBolt said in a statement. Romney new tone could be due to the addition of Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) to the ticket, which was seen as energizing the GOP campaign. And it could be because the election is growing closer and polls show the race is neck-and-neck. Biden himself explained his remark later on Tuesday, saying “I think I said instead of ‘unshackled,’ ‘unchained.’” The vice president then criticized Romney’s campaign for arguing his comments were outrageous. “If you want to know what’s outrageous, it’s their policies and the effects of their policies on middle class America. That’s what’s outrageous,” Biden said. Obama deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter also defended Biden’s remarks, saying they “were a derivative of those remarks, describing the devastating impact letting Wall Street write its own rules again would have on middle-class families.” Speaking on MSNBC Tuesday afternoon, she blasted the Romney response as “faux outrage.” Asked by host Andrea Mitchell if she would say the vice president went too far, Cutter responded, “No, I’m not.” “The bottom line is we have no problem with those comments,” Cutter added. Romney campaign spokeswoman Andrea Saul then released a second statement criticizing the Obama campaign. “In case anyone was wondering just how low President Obama could go in his campaign for reelection, we now know he’s willing to say that Governor Romney wants to put people back in chains,” Saul said. “Whether its accusing Mitt Romney of being a felon, having been responsible for a woman’s tragic death or now wanting to put people in chains, there’s no question that because of the president’s failed record he’s been reduced to a desperate campaign based on division and demonization.” In a statement released after her appearance on MSNBC, Cutter said the Romney campaign’s outrage was “hypocritical” given Romney’s stump speech that she said questioned the president’s patriotism. |
| Former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani told CNBC’s Larry Kudlow tonight that Vice President Biden may be unfit for office. Here’s the transcript:
KUDLOW: You know, what did he say? ‘Y’all going to be put back in chains’? That almost has racial overtones, Rudy Giuliani. What’s your take on that? GIULIANI: Well, I think if it came from somebody serious maybe we’d get all excited about it. But the — I think the vice president of the United States has become a laugh line on late night television. I mean, he — I’ve never seen a vice president that has made as many mistakes, said as many stupid things. I mean, there’s a real fear if, God forbid, he ever had to be entrusted with the presidency, whether he really has the mental capacity to handle it. I mean, this guy just isn’t bright. He’s never been bright. He isn’t bright. And people think, ‘Well, he just talks a little too much.’ Actually he’s not very smart. |

| This morning in Virginia, Vice President Joe Biden dropped some shocking and offensive language in ripping into Mitt Romney’s economic plans. Stooping to a new low, Biden said, “Romney wants to let the—he said in the first 100 days, he’s going to let the big banks once again write their own rules–unchain Wall Street. They gonna put y’all back in chains.”

| “Have any of you all met Paul Ryan? We should get him to come to the university. I’m telling you this guy is amazing. … He is honest, he is straightforward, he is sincere. And the budget that he came forward with is just like Paul Ryan. It is a sensible, straightforward, serious budget and it cut the budget deficit just like we did, by $4 trillion. … The president as you remember, came out with a budget and I don’t think anybody took that budget very seriously. The Senate voted against it 97 to nothing.”
