Capital in your business isn’t what matters. It isn’t the money that buys you a future; it’s your skills that buy you a future. Money and no skills, I’m telling you, you are still poor. Money and no ambition, where are you? Money and no courage, you’re broke. A little bit of money and a whole lot of courage is all we need.
When looking for people, don’t always look for the ones with money; money doesn’t matter. What matters is somebody’s willingness, somebody’s ingenuity, somebody’s willingness to try. If they have a dollar to invest, that’s plenty for me. A dollar and some ambition and I can show you how to get rich and it will be one of the classic stories of the company. When recruiting somebody and they would say, “I don’t have any money,” I’d say, “I’ve been looking for you for six months! Let me show you how to do it without any money.
Because here are the rules of capitalism: you can either buy and sell or, if you are in certain circumstances, you can sell and buy. That is, if you’ve got ambition. Now if you haven’t got ambition we can’t cure that and money can’t cure it—lack of ambition. But if you have a dollar and some ambition I will show you how to get rich. Even if you don’t have a dollar I will show you how to get rich, because you can sell and buy. Somebody says, “As soon as the product arrives I’ll sell it.” No, no, you don’t understand. You don’t understand the magic of fortune if you say “I have to wait till the product gets here.”
And you probably don’t understand the value of your own story. By selling and buying you are simply sharing from your own excitement and belief about the product and the opportunity. Once the customer says yes, ask for the money and then go get the product. After doing that three or four times you will be able to buy and sell, but never let money keep you from an opportunity when you have in its place true ambition, faith and courage.
Read: Equality of opportunity = good. Equality of outcomes = bad.

“History affords us many instances of the ruin of states, by the prosecution of measures ill suited to the temper and genius of their people. The ordaining of laws in favor of one part of the nation, to the prejudice and oppression of another, is certainly the most erroneous and mistaken policy. An equal dispensation of protection, rights, privileges, and advantages, is what every part is entitled to, and ought to enjoy… These measures never fail to create great and violent jealousies and animosities between the people favored and the people oppressed; whence a total separation of affections, interests, political obligations, and all manner of connections, by which the whole state is weakened.” –Benjamin Franklin, Emblematical Representations
Don’t think the following couldn’t happen here. Left leaning political landscape beyond the tipping point, 30 or 40 trillion or even higher national debt, integration into the United Nations so deep one can’t tell where it starts and the US stops, and the final straw to break Old Glory’s back- budget control of the American People taken by the One World socialist state.

Nearly Half a Million Strong March Past Reporters Who Didn’t Report the 39th Annual March for Life
On Monday, January 23, 2012, in rain and freezing temperatures, crowds of nearly 500,000 pro-life supporters marched through the streets of Washington, D.C., in the Nation’s Capitol. Every year, the March for Life draws massive crowds on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion. However, the media missed it, again! The annual March for Life has occurred every year since 1974 with marchers numbering 100,000 or more strong every year since 1977! With attendance numbers consistently that high, you would think major media outlets would cover such an event. However, major media outlets have largely ignored and neglected to mention it at all during the past five years.
Media sources that covered the March for Life, ran stories that seemed to focus on the March for Life opposition instead of on the marchers for life: “Thousands March to Protest Roe.” Americans remain strongly divided on abortion. A Gallup Poll last year showed that 49% of respondents identified themselves as “pro-choice,” while 45% called themselves “pro-life.” President of NARAL Pro-Choice America said in a statement that politicians supporting the March for Life were ignoring more pressing issues. “Anti-choice politicians and their allies promised to focus on creating jobs, yet they are attacking a woman’s right to choose at near-record levels,” Nancy Keenan said.

Self deportation may indeed work, and may already be working due to the current poor state of the U.S. economy.
However, with recent news of the U.S. military jobs being cut (see Reuters article below), how will this affect the number of available service member jobs for our own citizens if we plan to give them to those who are here illegally as a means for them to gain U.S. citizenship?
The overall size of the Army, which was already scheduled to fall to 520,000 by 2016, could be further reduced to 490,000, a drop of another 30,000 soldiers, analysts say.

Mitt Romney has released his taxes, and nary a peep anymore about it from the media.
Romney Brings Tithing to the Forefront
http://www.sacbee.com/2012/01/26/4215757/mitt-romney-tithing.html
Mitt Romney’s tax returns reveal that the Republican presidential candidate does something fewer Americans do these days: He tithes.
Romney’s 2009 and 2010 tax returns, released Tuesday, show that he and his wife, Ann, gave 10 percent of their income, about $4.1 million, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The couple reported income of about $43 million for the two years.
LDS church members must tithe to participate in temple rituals.
Nearly 80 percent of Mormons tithe, a poll released this month by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life shows.
While tithing among Mormons is high, it is at an all-time low, less than 3 percent, among many faith groups, according to an October report by Empty Tomb, a Christian research organization. The theology behind tithing is also being questioned, with many saying the mandate to contribute 10 percent is not biblical.
Tithing has its roots in the Old Testament (“Bring all the tithes to the storehouse,” from the Book of Malachi) and means one-tenth of income.
“The New Testament says a Christian is saved under grace and it does not teach tithing,” said Russell Kelly, who argues against it on his website, http://www.shouldthechurchteachtithing. com.
Think about it. Why do we talk about electing a President of the United States who is a man (or woman) of new ideas? Technically, coming up with new ideas isn’t the job of the President.
The President’s job is to lead the Executive Branch, to be the commander-in-chief of our armed forces, to protect our country and its borders. Just because a President thinks of new ideas, doesn’t mean the nation is even concerned with those ideas. He is to enforce the laws. He is not designated to come up with new ideas. Why would he? This isn’t one of his duties.
The place for new ideas comes from Congress, the Legislative Branch. The Legislative Branch creates the laws and proposes them to the President, who vetoes them or not. Our legislators are sent to Washington to represent “we the people.” It is the legislators’ job to come up with ideas in order to enact laws that represent the people of the nation.
The Judicial Branch decides if the laws of our country have been broken.
The U.S. Constitution, Article 1 designates the powers of the Legislative Branch. Article 2 designates the powers of the Executive Branch. Article 3 designates the powers of the Judicial Branch. Simply put, we need to elect people who follow the Constitution of the United States and the duties of each branch that are outlined within.
Theory must fit the evidence, not the other way around

Perhaps the most inconvenient fact is the lack of global warming for well over 10 years now. This is known to the warming establishment, as one can see from the 2009 “Climategate” email of climate scientist Kevin Trenberth: “The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t.” But the warming is only missing if one believes computer models where so-called feedbacks involving water vapor and clouds greatly amplify the small effect of CO2.
The lack of warming for more than a decade—indeed, the smaller-than-predicted warming over the 22 years since the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) began issuing projections—suggests that computer models have greatly exaggerated how much warming additional CO2 can cause. Faced with this embarrassment, those promoting alarm have shifted their drumbeat from warming to weather extremes, to enable anything unusual that happens in our chaotic climate to be ascribed to CO2.
The fact is that CO2 is not a pollutant. CO2 is a colorless and odorless gas, exhaled at high concentrations by each of us, and a key component of the biosphere’s life cycle. Plants do so much better with more CO2 that greenhouse operators often increase the CO2 concentrations by factors of three or four to get better growth. This is no surprise since plants and animals evolved when CO2 concentrations were about 10 times larger than they are today. Better plant varieties, chemical fertilizers and agricultural management contributed to the great increase in agricultural yields of the past century, but part of the increase almost certainly came from additional CO2 in the atmosphere.

Al-Sharq newspaper on Saturday quoted unnamed officials as saying that women will be able to watch the matches in a new facility that will be completed in 2014 in the western port city of Jeddah.

Who exactly is “the middle class”? The new phrase-of-the-day (for quite some time now) from the President and the current establishment occupying the White House is “the middle class.” I’ve been hearing this phrase being spoken for a while now, but every time I hear it, I find myself wondering if they’re talking about ME?
Am I middle class?? I honestly don’t know because it’s never been defined. As I listen to the President, his establishment, the Congress, and the new republican candidates running for President, I’ve found myself talking back to the TV and asking the talking heads, “WHO are you referring to? Are you talking about me? Are you trying to pass measures that will help me?”
I just don’t know if I’m included in that “class.” Please give the definition of who you mean when you say “the middle class.” All I hear is, “The middle class needs help, the middle class needs tax breaks, the middle class needs breaks on their investments, the middle class needs help to make ends meet.” I certainly could use help in all those areas, but again, I just don’t know if they’re talking about me or my neighbor across the street. By the way, my neighbor doesn’t know either!
It would be very helpful if the President, the current establishment of advisers that occupy the White House, the Congress, and the media would define these terms that they consistently use on a daily basis so that we the people know WHO, exactly, they are talking about and to which “class” we belong: “Upper income” (please provide the income range?); “Middle income” (please provide income range?); and “Low income” (please provide income range?).
Shouldn’t we test a few first to verify they need to be beefed up? I’m sure no one would miss an Iranian nuke reactor…

Romney was introduced to the crowd in Spanish by the couple’s youngest son, who spent several years in Chile. After a quick “Ola!” from one of their 16 grandkids, Ann Romney delivered what appeared to be a heartfelt, funny and down home assessment of the rigors of being a candidate’s wife and raising five children while her husband traveled on business and why she agreed, once again, to join him on the campaign trail.

According to H.R. 535, the Penn. House declares “2012 as the ‘Year of the Bible’ in Pennsylvania in recognition of both the formative influence of the Bible on our Commonwealth and nation and our national need to study and apply the teachings of the holy scriptures.”
“Any year or every year would be a good choice to recognize the value of the Bible,” said State Representative Jerry Stern, one of the sponsors of the resolution, in an interview with The Christian Post.
Regarding whether or not the resolution constituted a violation of the separation of church and state, Stern said that the First Amendment’s standards only applied to Congress.
“Our 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is quite clear: ‘Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,'” said Stern.

One of Romney’s biggest applause lines was saying that Gingrich has a pattern of pandering to local audiences – promising a new Veterans Administration hospital in New Hampshire a few weeks ago and a moon colony on Wednesday when he visited Florida’s Space Coast.

Turn the state money off and problem solved. Public money comes with strings attached and is a chief reason the box we live in constantly gets smaller and smaller. Why is it religious freedom is curtailed if public money is involved but not other freedoms, like the right to vote or First Amendment expression rights? Maybe those receiving state or federal money ought to have to quarter troops or make their homes available for warrentless searches? People need to rely on themselves, their families, their churches, and their communities for support, not state and federal governments!
This is about the DUMBEST thing I’ve heard a candidate say. Promising a moonbase to get votes? C’mon! Whatever happened to smaller government, lower taxes, debt reduction, etc. If there’s such a strong outpouring of support for extended space operations, let it coalesce in the private sector. ‘In a world where words have meaning, Mitt Romney is not the “moderate” in this race. He is the most conservative candidate still standing, with the possible exception of Rick Santorum, who is bad on illegal immigration. (Santorum voted in the Senate against even the voluntary use of E-Verify by employers, which means he doesn’t want to do anything about illegal immigration at all.)
‘Romney is “moderate” only in demeanor — which is just another word game. His positions are more conservative than Gingrich’s, but he doesn’t scare people like Gingrich does. Ronald Reagan and Jesse Helms were moderate in demeanor, too. No one would call them political moderates.
‘Romney is the most electable candidate not only because it will be nearly impossible for the media to demonize this self-made Mormon square, devoted to his wife and church, but precisely because he is the most conservative candidate.
‘Conservatism is an electable quality. Hotheaded arrogance is neither conservative nor attractive to voters.’

‘The gay community has expressed dissatisfaction with Nixon for suggesting that being gay is a choice. Nixon has made the comment twice, once in a speech and once in a New York Times interview, causing a backlash from the gay activists, who do not want homosexuality to be depicted as a choice.
‘”I gave a speech recently, an empowerment speech to a gay audience, and it included the line ‘I’ve been straight and I’ve been gay, and gay is better,” the actress told the New York Times. “And they tried to get me to change it, because they said it implies that homosexuality can be a choice.”‘
One of the commenters makes an interesting point-
Expect ‘bullying’ to be the new ‘racism.’
If you disagree with the opinion of an African American, you are racist. If you disagree with the opinion of a homosexual, you are a bully. The term is broad and vague but already carrying a deep negative stigma.
As long as the boy sticks to Scripture and makes Scriptural appeals for not choosing homosexual behavior, I support him.
I’ll support the final nominee 100% whomever it is. In the meantime, I don’t think Newt can maintain long term leadership among the base. Romney knows how to make money and I believe his credentials will be most desired when choosing a President capable of improving the economy.

http://conservativedailynews.com/2012/01/its-not-about-their-vision-or-values/
Every two years, when there are national elections in The United States, inevitably, we hear pundits ask these types of questions: What vision do they have for our country? What direction do they want to lead our country? What values do they hold?
While such things may appeal to the sensibilities of voters, and are a clever way for politicians to win our votes, I often take exception to these sorts of questions:
In our Federal Constitution, The framers gave The United States Congress 16 explicit, and Enumerated Powers, to which they could legislate. And, since then, there has been 27 subsequent Amendments. Nowhere in our Constitution is it written that anyone in our Federal Government shall have the power to legislate the values or morals of each “individual” in this union of “sovereign states.”
By no means, am I suggesting that values are not important. The values we hold, are a core part of who we are, and of our very existence. However, each of us has our own set of values, our own morals, and our own faiths. The Founders also made We The People the sovereigns in this Federalist system of ours, and outside of the Limited and Defined, Constitutional Powers, that We The People have given to our Federal Government, all other things should be left to our respective states, or to us, as sovereign individuals.
Therefore, in my humble opinion, the above questions should be answered as such:
The vision, and direction of our “Federal Government,” should always be moving in the direction that our Federal Constitution, ”explicitly,” calls for; which is the formula that made this country great from it’s inception. Period!
Regardless if I share the same values, or faith, as a person running for office, I still expect them to uphold the very document that they have taken an oath to; and let us, the people of this great country, decide how we should best govern “our own lives!”
HA!

‘Santorum talked values, but he also quickly localized his rhetoric, as when he connected his attack on the environmentalist public service announcement advertisement Gingrich taped to the chair of the Democratic National Committee who represents a nearby district in the House.
‘“We don’t need someone who sits on a couch with Nancy Pelosi – I mean it’s not as bad as sitting with Debbie Wasserman Schultz, but it’s close,” Santorum said, to loud cheers. “I’m not gonna sit on the couch with anybody!”’

‘According to The Wall Street Journal on Thursday, January 19, 2012, Gov. Romney’s former employer, Bain Capital, made an investment in an IRA on his behalf that appreciated to between $20 million and $101 million. According to the Journal, the investment appears to have been in a traditional IRA instead of a Roth IRA, which offers additional tax benefits in protecting investment gains.
‘PENSCO Kelly Rodriques notes that had Romney’s investment been in a Roth IRA, his gains would have been tax deferred and potentially tax free upon withdrawal.’

In August 2010 the republican party adopted new “proportional representation” primary rules to give candidates the state delegates on a “proportional basis” instead of on a “winner-take-all” basis. With the new rules, state delegates are awarded to multiple candidates instead of just to the winner of each state. So it’s less important who wins each state instead of how many delegates each candidate picks up in each state (except for Florida, which remains a “winner-take-all” state).
The rule changes make it more difficult for one candidate to wrap up the nominee early on as John “McLame” did in 2008. He benefited by the former “winner-take-all” rules and wrapped up the nomination early in the primary season. However, if the newly adopted rules were used in 2008, “McLame” would not have been the republican candidate; Mitt Romney would have been the candidate with an 8-delegate win.
If no candidate has won more than 50 percent of the delegates by the republican convention held the week of August 27, 2012, the convention becomes a “brokered convention” where all previously pledged state delegates would be “released” and able to switch their allegiance to a different candidate of choice in an effort to determine a clear majority for one candidate by a convention vote.

Question about the bigger picture- why is it so time consuming and difficult for someone to become an American citizen? There are thousands of people from other countries who want to come here and be part of our nation and have to go through a bureaucratic process to do so. The same people are working at our businesses, shopping and eating at our retail locations, attending our schools, using our emergency rooms, being handled by our police and immigration forces, ad finitum and we’re paying for it. Why not just grant an ‘innocent until proven guilty’ citizenship status so they can start paying federal, state, and local taxes and share the financial burden?
Until then, the law should be respected. How can someone from Pennsylvania be charged out of state tuition for attending a Maryland college but an illegal in Maryland could pay instate tuition under the DREAM Act? Just not right…

But Romney, at his post-election rally in South Carolina, vowed to put up a stiff fight in what he predicted would be a “long primary season.”
“I’ll keep fighting for every single vote. I will compete in every single state,” Romney said.
The former Massachusetts governor, without calling out Gingrich by name, blasted him over his government-heavy resume and his past attacks on Romney’s tenure at Bain Capital.
“President Obama has no experience running a business and no experience running a state. Our party can’t be led to victory by someone who also has never run a business and never run a state,” Romney said. Likewise, Romney said the GOP can’t defeat Obama with a candidate who joined in on the “assault on free enterprise.”
“They’re attacking every person who dreams of a better future. He’s attacking you. I will support you,” Romney said, adding that anyone who demonizes success is not “fit” to be nominee.
While grandiose debating skills, taking on the media, and standing ovations have led the way for some candidates in the republican primary so far, it’s important to remember that it’s going to take more than just such debating skills to defeat the “great orator” of our time. The republican primary has had 23 debates so far, and 6 more debates are still on schedule. In the general election, there will be only 3 debates against Fauxbama. Also, Fauxbama will not agree to any proposed Lincoln-Douglas style debates. Why should he? He is the sitting President who does not need to “prove” himself. While it has been said that whoever wins SC, wins the nomination, it is important to remember that there have already been several “firsts” in this republican primary. There is still a long way to go, and so the SC win may very well become just another “first” in the long run.

The anti-Romney candidate…who is he or she? Where is he or she? This fallacy is what has framed the republican primary from the start, and it’s been repeated enough in the media so that the public has been sufficiently fooled into believing this fallacy is now a fact.
There is no such thing as the anti-Romney candidate. It is a media lie, made up to discredit and possibly doom the Romney campaign since he has been viewed from the start as the best equipped to take down Obama. “Anti” is a buzz word of the liberal left. They use it to demean and discredit their opponent, while falsely presenting themselves as “pro” everything. The rise and fall of each individual candidate was orchestrated by the media as the possible anti-Romney candidate. However, it’s been a farce, all done to discredit Romney as a conservative and made anyone foolish enough to believe these lies think he’s anti-conservative. Really? Seriously? Think about it…Romney not a conservative? I don’t think so.
All of the republican candidates (from the start) are actually not very far apart from each other on the issues. All of the republican candidates are true American conservatives and all would make far superior Presidents to the one who currently resides in this office now.

Rosen decided to run ‘because of [Andy Harris’] conservative values.’
???
Balance the budget, eliminate deficit spending, reduce the debt, reign in entitlement spending, abortion kills a beating heart, marriage between a man and a woman, energy independence- opposition to these values inspired a Democrat to challenge Harris for the privilege to represent the people?
Is she crazy? It is written in our founding documents that we believe our rights are granted to us by our Creator. Thus, there is an understood deference to a higher power and the guidelines for living set forth in the Bible. The Democrat value platform is mostly at odds with traditional family values. Rosen is not a good choice to represent the 1st District. Nor are any of the others challengers.
Also remember- little Democrats roll up to be big Democrats later on. Do we really want to empower a MD Democrat to throw in with Nancy Pelosi again? I think not! EE
Sweet! I’m tired of Jay-Z and yo yo yo yo Beyonce dominating the entertainment side of politics. Time for conserv celebs to step up and bring down the balloons and confetti on a victory concert come November!

Chuck Norris says-
“I’m tired of watching our country being torn to shreds by those who think the answer is more government debt and control. I’m tired of being in bondage to a tax system that robs U.S. citizens like the King of England did before the Revolution,” Norris writes.”I’m tired of watching our sovereignty being sold by foreign loans and loose borders. And I will not sit back and merely watch this decay and degradation of the U.S. and then hand it over to my children and grandchildren to deal with.”
In 2008, Norris’ endorsement of Mike Huckabee propelled the former Arkansas governor to the top tier of GOP candidates and resulted in his best fundraising day ever. He then appeared in an ad with Huckabee, who explained his answer to secure borders in America during a presidency would be two words: “Chuck … Norris.”
The ad, which has been viewed millions of times, still is popular online years after the GOP nominating process ultimately picked Arizona Sen. John McCain:
Norris continued, “That is why my wife Gena and I have committed the rest of our lives to help Old Glory rise again to her heights of splendor. And that is why we are endorsing and standing with Newt Gingrich, because we believe he can lead all of us who have committed to the same.”
Norris said the nation is under “assault” from “extremists outside our country and anti-constitutionalists inside our country.”

There has to be a limit on what the government can mandate. That’s the purpose of our Constitition and the American Experiment. Mandate to participate in health care plans? Damn right if you work and generate revenue that could benefit someone else. Mandate for insurance companies to provide free birth control? Damn right if risky sexual behavior and abortion are already endangering the future progeny of America. I just don’t see the value in all of these mandates and, if you take a big step back, I just don’t see the Constitutionality of the Fed gov’t telling everybody what when and how to do it. We are overcentralized. Confiscation of public money for charity is not Constitutional. Confiscation of public money for health, population control, personal wellness, etc is not Constitutional. This has to stop and it’s not going to slow while Democrats are writing the rulebook. The czars and Cabinet members are doing us a huge disservice but that’s only because they’re empowered by Democrat leadership. We have to vote Republican at the local level because small Dems roll up into big Dems at the national level. Please I implore you!
Pure child abuse! A child needs a mother and a father. Boys have to be trained how to grow into responsible young men and girls need to guided into womanhood. The kid is going to have some major psychological hurdles to overcome thanks to his custodial clowns.
One day a florist goes to a barber for a haircut.
After the cut he asks about his bill and the barber
replies, ‘I cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community
service this week.’ The florist is pleased and leaves the shop.
When the barber goes to open his shop the next morning
there is a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen roses waiting
for him at his door.
Later, a cop comes in for a haircut, and when he tries
to pay his bill, the barber again replies, ‘I cannot
accept money from you. I’m doing community service
this week.’ The cop is happy and leaves the shop.
The next morning when the barber goes to open up there
is a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen donuts wai ting for
him at his door.
Later that day, a college professor comes in for a
haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber
again replies, ‘I cannot accept money from you. I’m
doing community service this week.’ The professor is
very happy and leaves the shop.
The next morning when the barber opens his shop, there
is a ‘thank you’ card and a dozen different books,
such as ‘How to Improve Your Business’ and ‘Becoming
More Successful.
Then, a Congressman comes in for a haircut, and when
he goes to pay his bill the barber again replies, ‘I
cannot accept money from you. I’m doing community
service this week.’ The Congressman is very happy and leaves
the shop.
The next morning when the barber goes to open up,
there are a dozen Congressmen lined up waiting for a
free haircut.
And that, my friends, illustrates the fundamental deference between
the citizens of our country and the members of our Congress.
Vote carefully this year.
Newt was on a roll. His grasp of the facts concerning South Carolina infrastructure is astounding. Major fireworks ahead if he faces Obama in a series of general election debates!
A person’s steps are directed by the LORD.
How then can anyone understand their own way?

Great points Bill! We thankfully enjoy equality of opportunity, not equality of outcomes. If we want to achieve in life, we must pay our dues! How could one expect to prosper by watching others do the work?
