The “mandate” was already in place in Massachusetts! The citizens of the state were already being “forced” to pay for someone else’s health care costs, not by Romney, but by those using the system and not paying for their own costs. So the taxpayers were already “mandated” and “forced” to pay for the healthcare costs – but not their own – someone elses – someone else who didn’t want to pay! This is the reason the citizens of Massachusetts wanted its government to look into an affordable healthcare system in the first place. They wanted those using the system to pay for their own costs instead of making everyone else pay. The government tried to unburden the taxpayer, to lower costs through free market enterprise, and to ultimately make healthcare affordable for those who couldn’t afford it.

While you may or may not agree with the “mandate,” the citizens of Mass. already had “mandates” in place. They were already being “mandated” or “forced” to pay! Pay for someone elses costs!! And they wanted it stopped!

In the end, it boils down to WHO should pay for someone’s health care costs? The individual who is receiving the care or society as a whole via taxpayers?? Someone has to pay — healthcare isn’t free! If you use the system, YOU should have to pay for it not all the other taxpayers except you!

Federal and State governments operate very differently. The federal government IS LIMITED by the Constitution and is only allowed to do what is EXPRESSLY PERMITTED BY THE CONSTITUTION. The federal government NEEDS CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY AND EXPRESS CONSTITUTIONAL PERMISSION.

The States are NOT LIMITED by that same Constitutional authority and so States ARE FREE TO ENACT THEIR OWN LAWS AND MANDATES. STATES ARE NOT LIMITED TO HAVING TO FIND EXPRESS PERMISSION IN THE CONSTITUTION. STATES MAY DO WHAT THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE APPROVE as long as it does not violate the Constitution or override federal law.

Since the Constitution says nothing about mandates, STATES ARE FREE TO IMPLEMENT THEM AT THE STATE LEVEL. The federal government CANNOT do the same because the federal government NEEDS EXPRESS PERMISSION FROM WITHIN THE CONSTITUTION TO DO SO, STATES DO NOT.

You’re crazy if you think that Romney violated any laws. Why don’t you just indict the entire Heritage Foundation and every member of the Massachusetts state legislature all at the same time? Read the facts! Read the bill! Stop with the liberal talking points!

ROMNEY AS GOV AUTHORED THIS VIOLATION OF THE CONSTITUTION! HE STARTED IT HE OWNS IT! – what part of that don’t you understand? This mandate & bad approach simply opened the door to the obamacon’s of the world to come along and mimmick… but this does not change the fact that mitt forced all Mass citizens to purchase HC and those not able to afford it had others pay… truth is actually pretty simple when boiled down.

He did not violate the constitution. What part? Please explain using actual facts not liberal talking points.

the part that says they exceed their authority by mandating people to buy a product OR enter a contract against their will – that part! (and its such a “Liberal concept” huh)

Wow, you’re really just falling for all the liberal talking points, guitargod! You really need to do your research on the Massachusetts health care law history and understand why the people of Massachusetts wanted health care reform for their state. Romney worked with the democratic legislature (of which Kennedy was a part of ) in order to pass a bill that the citizens wanted.
