Racist campaign music selection

by on February 9, 2012

What’s with all the black singers? They seem to be showing preferential treatment for black singers more than their proportion of the country’s population would justify- racists!

Political Playlist: Obama’s 2012 Campaign Rally Music

The Obama campaign released the official soundtrack that will play at President Obama’s 2012 election rallies, revealing an eclectic lineup that includes tracks from rock, indie and country acts. The campaign posted the playlist the president campaign Facebook page and also Spotify, a streaming music service. You can listen to the 24 songs here. The list includes a song performed by Jennifer Hudson for the movie Dreamgirls, “Love you I do.” Hudson, like the president, is a Chicago native and has performed at Obama campaign events. Also notable on the list is Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together,” which the president sang at the Apollo Theater last month at a campaign fundraiser. First lady Michelle Obama says her husband likes to serenade her and recently told Jay Leno, “He does have a beautiful voice, and he sings to me all the time.” She said he also likes Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder, who didn’t make the cut, but some other iconic names did like James Taylor (“Your Smiling Face”), Aretha Franklin (“The Weight”), REO Speedwagon (“Roll with the Changes” and U2 (“Even Better Than The Real Thing”). There’s also a decent round of country performers on the soundtrack, including Dierks Bentley (“Home”), Darius Rucker (“Learn to Live” and “This”) and Sugarland (“Everyday America” and “Stand Up”). Some indie tunes will also be played at his rallies including Arcade Fire’s “We Used to Wait” and Florence and the Machine’s “You’ve Got Love.” The music will be heard before large campaign events, and obviously intended to get the crowed jazzed up before the president makes his re-election campaign pitch. Obama’s 2008 lineup featured upbeat tempos from the 60s and 70s, fitting to his “Hope and Change” campaign slogan. The 2012 one is perhaps slightly more in tune with the realities of the tough economic times. Take No Doubt’s track that sings: “Things can be broken down In this world of ours You don’t have to be a famous person Just to make your mark” And Dierks Bentley, who belts: “From the mountains highTo the wave crashed coastThere’s a way to findBetter days I know It’s been a long hard rideGot a ways to goBut this is still the placeThat we all call home” Fox News’ resident expert on 60s music and the Beatles, James Rosen (who also goes by the more official title of Chief Washington Correspondent) notes that the Earth, Wind and Fire’s song on the list “Got to Get You in My Life,” is misidentified. The correct title of the song, originally released in 1996 on the Album Revolver is by the Beatles, and is titled “Got to Get You Into My Life.” OBAMA’S 2012 RALLY PLAYLIST:Different People>>No Doubt Got To Get You Into My Life – (Live)>>Earth Wind & Fire Green Onions – Single/LP Version>>Booker T. & The MG’s I Got You>>Wilco Keep On Pushing – Single Version>>The Impressions Love You I Do>>Performed by Jennifer Hudson; Dreamgirls Soundtrack No Nostalgia>>AgesandAges Raise Up>>Ledisi Stand Up>>Sugarland This>>Darius Rucker We Used to Wait>>Arcade Fire You’ve Got The Love>>Florence + The Machine Your Smiling Face>>James Taylor Roll With The Changes>>REO Speedwagon Keep Marchin’>>Raphael Saadiq Tonight’s The Kind Of Night>>Noah And The Whale Keep Me In Mind>>Zac Brown Band The Weight>>Aretha Franklin Even Better Than The Real Thing>>U2 Home>>Dierks Bentley Everyday America>>Sugarland Learn To Live>>Darius Rucker Let’s Stay Together>>Al Green Mr. Blue Sky>>Electric Light Orchestra

Fellow Obama supporters, I am just going to rttale off a few thought to get started This election is vital to the continued recovery of the United States. We have madeprogress in areas that are critical to the security and stability of our nation. While I amnot an expert in the details of legislation, I am aware that the process is very precarious.Perhaps others can would care to contribute specifics. The reform of our system for providing healthcare was welcomed by the majorityof Americans. Such reform is an integral part of economic recovery, as we have seenthat the older system that republicans fought so hard not to change, left many Americans without affordable insurance, and many others without insurance at all. There were others that were often unknowingly subject to genetic discrimination as forces chose tooveremphasize the role of genetics in the role of disease. This path wears far lessresistance than confronting the role of environmental factors and the sources of stressthat play impact human health. The system we are in the process of changing(bushwack care) leaves many in financial ruin as they are bushwacked as they paytens of thousands of dollars in health insurance, with different companies, to end upin a company like Enron that is run into the ground to impede change in the energyindustry. It seem possible we could all benefit if we were tostrengthen the emphasis on the UNITED part of the United States. Individually States seem to positioncongressional leaders to represent Corporations rather than govern as sworn to upholdthe Constitution of The United States of America.Yet, here we are, recovering from the pillage and plunder of non-government,and are faced with bold support of the Multinational CorporateGreed machine that tells us that reducing corporate tax is the miracle cure.History, economics, and facts thereof would indicate this isn’t so. Moreover we are told we need to deregulate, three years after an era of corporate and fiscal disaster. And what is more frightful is this is the gist of their solution corporations come home. It is their solution because it lines their pockets and provides positioningfor employment as a lobbyist for a multinational conglomerate. After all, why would anyone want to be held responsible for creating sound policywhen all they have to do is chant lower taxes and deregulate to garner financial support. So now if such powerful forces are taking a break from pitting states against each otherthey might get back to the business of pitting countries against each other. After all.we were supposed to elect McCain and Palin because they had the courage to saywe needed to change, they had enough wisdom to see that Barack Obamawas right. He set out to put government back in the hands of the people as stated in the constitution. He is a leader who is a public servant because he wants to serve the public not sell them out with cheap tricks. There must be more intelligible strategy behind the republican agenda. The stark simplicity of both republican campaigns and policies seem to indicate they rely on the ignorance and lack of recollection of the American people to garner support. Surely, forging policythat affects our country and the world at large involves a higher level of thinking than we hear on talk radio or campaign ads or does it?Perhaps the more elaborate issues areconfided only to key elite players with the delusion of some secret noble cause.Maybe the tape measure of success for the Bush administration needs to remaina secret because reflects more the failure of the Republican party system of power than the failure of an individual president.Who would have thought we would have enough collective wisdom as acountry to elect the leader, who voted against the Iraq war, when we could have voted for the party that didn’t learn anything from their mistakes, or from the wisdom of former president George Bush Senior. Then is was the great foreign policy prowess of Senator McCain, because of his military experience, we were supposed to vote for him because of a looming war in Georgia on the horizon (Georgia in the former Soviet Union). As a very likable, kind man mind you, with honor and due respect for his military and public service as a senator, he was in the wrong party. The republican power-base didn’t like him. He recognized that change was necessary. He might have even tried to change the Grand Old Party and seek to facilitate sound government and work toward the solution to serious problems at home and abroad as did Barack Obama. Even though President Bush personally accepted responsibility some bad decisions, the Bush-roots’ of the GOP did not. Changes of key leadership positions during the Buch Administration seem to indicate things went terribly wrong. The GOP Bush-roots power-base makes no acknowledgment of failure that can be reflected in party philosophy, economic or foreign policy. Thus the intention and the malice of the deception involved in facilitating the GOP absolute power agenda is still intact. However, the situation would not likely be conducive to the simple mindless cut spending and deregulate campaign. Defense spending had been increased to the power of the unknown. Many corporations had failed, with or without regard for regulation and the resulting failure of the financial situation set shock waves around the world. What was the tax structure then and where did that get our country? I thought they wanted to reduce the deficit. They were not very happy with McCain, but of course they didn’t want a democrat as president. I think it was the wisdom of the collective masses that saved us from McCains cry, stay in Iraq 100 years if necessary. The thing was, the Iraq war was not necessary at all, as George Bush Senior had demonstrated as he was able to obtain Saudi funding to liberate Kuwait. So, Sarah Palin, as a candidate, foolishly endorsesan attack by Israel based on foolish statements someone from Iran. Furthermore, she can see Russia from her house, so she can keep an eye on Russia while senatorMcCain has the Georgia connection for the possibility of conflict there. And after all,we needed a Military mind and a big game hunter that is not big on reading to lead the country. We can be proud of our country now. We can be very proud becausein 2008 we elected Barack Obama. Now those who would sacrifice the progressof our great country for personal gain have are exposed as they continue to lead usto believe that multinational corporations will save our country if we just let them. Many of the same people well know there is no truth in the concept of government by invisible corporations, only campaign money from fraudulent headquarters. We are on the mend under the leadership of Barack Obama. The party that continues to endorse effective diplomatic foreign policy and sound government regulation for economic recovery, the democratic party, is on the right track.More changes are needed and cooperation of both parties is necessary. However, the Republican party, lacks the dynamics to respond to the needs of the American People. By failing to help our country move forward with needed change, theyhave failed to understand the mandate of the American People to implement change so we may recover from the devastation of Bush-roots’ blunders. We expected our representatives to work with the leader we elected becausewe were and are moving in the right direction. However those who have worked to undermine the progress of this great nation have no sound plans or viable process for solutions to make things better. They are collectively so bold and narrow minded that a viral campaign, that blows smoke in our face and up the ass of international corruption and clearly leads to TAKING OUR COUNTRY BACKWARD.

Nice work, Kate. Although I am a Canadian (with his own national otcelien to deal with), I have been closely following the presidential race in the US. The presidential candidates are poised and attract devout followers. What an interesting set compared to our YAWN characterless, mindless political drones here in Canada.Besides the candidates, I truly admire the way in which Americans of all walks of life and political stripes stand up, express their outrage, and take action in some shape or form. Your online activity, for example, and your mom’s donation are perfect examples of people power in this Web 2.0 age.(To be fair, our Canadian candidates are their parties are using social media and networks.)Without becoming political, I agree that Barack Obama presents a very fresh face and dare I say fresh ideas in this campaign and would certainly bring the same to the White House. As I like to say, may the best campaigner win. It’s no secret to those with eyes and ears. The world is changing rapidly. From China and India to Russia and the oil-rich Arab states to Europe. And real dangers exist: the wild west between Pakistan and Afghanistan, for example. US supremacy is secure, for now. But without a vision for the future, the US will be overtaken, or in a more likely scenario bleed to death financially. Just as the US drained the Soviet Union during the Cold War, the War on Terror may do the the same to the US. God forbid.Again, I am a Canadian who is troubled by issues in his own country; but I still believe with all my heart that the US cannot afford to elect just another President the American people need a leader with vision and the capacity to reunite and tap into the real energy of the US: the American people.
