Why America’s Leading Libertarian Is Endorsing Mitt Romney And Joining The GOP
Hello, I’m Wayne Allyn Root for PersonalLiberty.com. I have a major political announcement: the biggest one of my life. Before I tell you about the most important decision of my political life and a little about my personal story that led to this decision, let me first cut to the chase.
If Obama is re-elected on Nov. 6, America and capitalism both face grave danger. I believe America as we know it and love it, the America of our Founding Fathers, the America that embraces capitalism and offers the famous American Dream, the America represented by the U.S. Constitution, the America of freedom, the America that allows the pursuit of happiness — that America is finished. Gone. In the rearview mirror. I don’t believe we ever recover from another four years of Barack Obama.
As Obama’s college classmate at Columbia University, I’ve reported for four years now on his plan to overwhelm the U.S. economy and wipe out capitalism. It’s based on the strategy of two Columbia University professors, Cloward and Piven. Obama is following it to perfection. But he has only just begun. He’s actually tried to be reasonable for his first four years because his goal was to be re-elected, so he could finish the job. So he had to be moderate to hold his powder. To hold back from his true radical self.
If Obama is re-elected on Nov. 6, you haven’t seen anything yet. His gloves will be off. He will be free to be his real radical self. Without ever having to face voters again, Obama will truly wreck this economy from sea to shining sea — just as Saul Alinsky, Cloward and Piven, Barack Obama Sr., Frank Marshall, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, and a host of other radical, Marxist, American-haters taught him.
We will face a final economic Armageddon: the total collapse of the U.S. economy and our monetary system. Obama unleashed will send the IRS to crush his political opposition. He will appoint a majority of Supreme Court and Federal judges, so none of his violations of the Constitution will ever again be challenged. His policies will encourage radical Islamic and terrorist rogue states to threaten and eventually destroy Israel. He will finish his destruction — actually, extinction — of our domestic oil, coal, even natural gas industries, so we’ll become more dependent on these rogue terrorist nations who sell us their oil. And he will continue to weaken the U.S. military, so we will be unable to prevent it all from happening.
Have I got your attention now?
Here’s my personal story and my big announcement. It has been a whirlwind last five years in my life. I started out my journey as the antithesis of a politician. As a small businessman, “home-school” dad, Las Vegas oddsmaker and political newcomer running for the Libertarian Presidential nomination in 2007, you couldn’t find more of an anti-politician in all of politics.
But in America anything is possible. In this great country, never discount a long shot. I was elected the Libertarian Vice Presidential nominee in 2008. The Bob Barr/Wayne Root Presidential ticket went on to garner the second highest vote total in Libertarian history. I was then elected Chairman of the Libertarian National Campaign Committee and became the No. 1 vote-getter in the country for election to the Libertarian National Committee. Media across the country called me “Mr. Libertarian” in my 4,000 media appearances since 2008.
Today, after giving this many months of thought, I’m announcing the most important decision of my political career. I am stepping down from my roles in the Libertarian Party to rejoin the Republican Party and, most importantly, to elect Mitt Romney as President of the United States.
Why? First, let’s start with what I believe in. I believe in the limited government promised by the U.S. Constitution. I want government to get out of the way of small business owners like me, put fewer rules and regulations in our way, and allow us to keep more of our own money. I want government to remember that it’s our money in the first place. I want politicians to support and motivate the taxpayers, the private sector and small business — the economic engine of America. Small businesses create 75 percent of new jobs and pay most of the taxes in this country.
Under the Obama Administration, we have seen businessmen denigrated, demonized, punished, smothered by 60,000 new rules and regulations, threatened with massive new taxes, and attacked by the IRS. That’s why there are no jobs. That’s why, in my opinion, the economy is in free fall. That’s why America is facing economic collapse and disaster.
I’m a capitalist evangelist. I’m proud to be a small businessman. I love starting and running businesses. What matters now above all else — the issues that are of life-and-death importance to this country, the only issues that matter to 90 percent of Americans — are the economy, creating jobs, lowering spending, lowering the debt and deficit, reducing taxes, and saving capitalism. Because if the economy collapses or your personal economy collapses, what difference does any other issue matter? We need to get our fiscal house in order first, before we can deal with all the other problems. Without an economy, without jobs, nothing else matters. That’s why electing Mitt Romney is so important.
This election is not about Libertarian versus non-Libertarian. This election is about capitalism versus big government progressivism and Big Brother socialism. Mitt Romney believes in the same things I do: keeping businesses free from government intrusion; allowing small business owners to keep more of their own money; and rewarding instead of punishing investors, innovators and job creators. Mitt understands, as President Calvin Coolidge once said: “The business of America is business.”
Mitt understands that Obama’s rhetoric, constant threats against business, union favoritism, IRS intimidation, barrage of tax increases, 60,000 new rules and regulations, $5 trillion in new debt, the added taxes and regulations of Obamacare, and the attempt to ban oil drilling and regulate the coal industry out of existence, have collectively ground the U.S. economy to a halt.
If you don’t believe me, just look across the pond to Europe. They’ve been following Obama’s exact plan for decades. Their mantra was also big government, big unions, big spending, big taxes, big pensions, free healthcare, too many government employees and green energy. The result? Economic disaster on a grand scale. Specifically Greece, Italy and Spain are enduring a tragedy few can even comprehend. France is next. We are following the exact same path under Obama.
Is Mitt perfect? No. Sure, I’d rather have Ron Paul or Rand Paul or Jim DeMint running the economy. Those are principled, Tea Party, fiscal conservatives. And, of course, I’m a fan of Gary Johnson, the former New Mexico Governor and Libertarian nominee for President. But guess what? Wake up. Like it or not, the only candidates that will run this country for the next four years are Obama or Romney. And we cannot afford to give Obama four more years. Period.
The sad reality is that this is our last stand to save America. The defeat of Barack Obama is necessary to save the U.S. economy from complete collapse. We will not survive four more years of Obama as CEO of this economy. I can speak personally; I know my businesses will not survive another four years of Obama. The economy is in free fall here on Main Street. Small-business owners like me are seeing our entire life’s work melting away. Our children’s future is being destroyed before our very eyes.
Don’t believe me? You think things are getting better, as Obama and Clinton claimed at the Democratic Convention? Then you’re in a delusional land of fairy tales. The economy is in danger of complete collapse. Did you see the latest jobs report? Disaster. For every one American landing a job, four dropped off the job rolls. At this rate, we’ll all be unemployed. By the way, unemployment is up in nine of the 10 battleground States. Nine of 10. The 10th is even. Did you notice that sales tax revenues in California in July were down a staggering $530 million versus projections? That’s in one State for one month. Disaster. Did you notice that petroleum sales nationally in July were down to 1996 levels? Disaster. Are you aware that “help wanted” ads are down to levels not seen since the Lehman Brothers collapse in 2008 (when the entire financial system was on the verge of Armageddon). Of course, you didn’t. The mainstream media don’t cover bad news. It might embarrass Obama.
The U.S. economy is like a very large and diverse failing company in desperate need of a turnaround. What America needs at this moment in history is a turnaround specialist. Not a Libertarian. That’s not the issue right now. We need a leader who knows how to turn around a failing business. We need a job creator with major CEO experience, with specific business-turnaround success, a detailed understanding of economics, a creative and innovative business mind, and a track record of extraordinary success to lead this country back from the edge of the fiscal cliff. That person is Mitt Romney. If he could pull off miracles with Staples (and dozens of companies like it) and the 2002 Olympics (which he saved from an economic disaster similar to the situation America now faces), he can turn this Obama bust into the Romney boom economy.
As opposed to Barack Obama who is not now (nor was he ever) qualified to run a bodega or a Dairy Queen. The first new net job he creates as President will be the first job he’s created in his life. He was quick to take credit for 4.5 million jobs created at the Democratic Convention. But the Labor Department says job creation during Mr. Obama’s Presidency has been several hundred thousand at best — almost all of them, by the way, terrible, low-paying jobs replacing good, high-paying jobs. But here’s the most important fact left out of Obama’s speech, “Obama is on track to have the worst jobs record of any president since World War II,” says Washington Post Fact Checker Glenn Kessler. By the way, the Labor Department just revised the June and July jobs report down another 41,000 jobs from what was reported.
Do I agree with Mitt and the GOP on every issue? Of course not. No one ever agrees 100 percent on everything. But I’m willing to put my differences aside to set an example in order to take back our country from the grips of socialism and the abyss of economic ruin. There is no other choice. Our back is to the wall, and Obama’s defeat is that important to the survival of our country, our economy, our freedoms, our children’s future and, ultimately, capitalism itself.
It’s time for a coalition of Republicans, conservatives, Tea Party activists, Libertarians, Ron Paul supporters, small-business owners, homeowners, investors, patriots, Christians, Jews and Israel supporters to join together and support Mitt Romney now.
As Clint Eastwood said, “We own this nation.” It’s time to take it back. Our businesses and jobs depend on it. The future of America and our children depends on it. Their quality of life is hanging in the balance. This is our last stand.
Is there still hope? Can this Obama nightmare be turned around? Look no further than Ronald Reagan. Reagan’s policies turned a Jimmy Carter economic disaster (similar to Obama’s) into the greatest and longest economic boom in world history — leading to the creation of over 45 million net jobs (20 million of them in just a few years), over $60 trillion in private sector asset creation (amazing), and the greatest increase in GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in American history. Reagan’s “Great Bull Stock Market” created more wealth for America’s families than any boom ever.
Now I know some of you are saying the GOP is not the answer. I understand. I left the GOP in 2007 because I lost faith too. Far too often, the GOP has given only lip service to ideas and ideals like limited government, individual rights and the Constitution. Once elected, Republicans often ignore those ideas and grow government just like Democrats. Look at the spending and growth of government under George W. Bush. Look at the 25,000 new rules and regulations under Bush (far better than Obama, but still terrible). Look at the rising debt under Bush. This was precisely why I left the GOP in 2007: because the GOP left me.
But something has changed. With the birth and growth of the Tea Party, everything is now changing. The Tea Party represents me. I believe in the Tea Party. And I believe that with the right leader, the Tea Party can change the Republican Party — or certainly influence the GOP in a big way. I’m proud of U.S. Senate Tea Party Caucus leaders like Rand Paul, Jim DeMint, Mike Lee and Marco Rubio. I hope to join them one day, representing my home state of Nevada in the U.S. Senate. So, for the first time in a long while, I feel good about the GOP. And I’m happy to say I’m back. Like the Phillip Phillips song, I’m back “home.”
Because of my general agreement with Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan on important economic issues (not total agreement, but general agreement); and because the Tea Party will hold the GOP to their promises or we will start a firestorm and make their lives miserable and then in the next election, throw the bums out; and because of my deep understanding of what Obama intends to do to this economy and this country in a 2nd term, I am now all in. I will do everything in my power to help elect Mitt Romney as the next President of the United States.
Because I believe Mitt Romney is our Reagan. And I am proud to once again call myself a Republican: a Tea Party Republican. This is our chance, folks. This is our last stand. This is the future of our children. There just is no other choice. Our businesses are on the line. Our economic survival is on the line. Our Constitution is on the line. So I’ve chosen to put my money where my mouth is.
I’ve sacrificed everything I’ve worked so hard for, everything I’ve built in six years to rise to the top of the Libertarian Party. It’s time for all of us to put our differences aside and fight for this country, fight for capitalism, fight for economic freedom, fight for our children’s future. Obama’s re-election will bring it all down. We can’t let that happen. I won’t let that happen. Will you?

So right off the bat I’ve offended the far-left. They don’t want the facts reported about the Islamic jihad. They don’t want to hear about the followers of Allah who kill in the name of their religion.
Well that’s tough. My job is to tell you the truth.
In Libya, 52-year-old Christopher Stevens, the American ambassador to that country was murdered last night along with three other American citizens. Fox News has obtained information that those killings were apparently planned. Not a spontaneous demonstration.
But in Egypt the situation was very different as hundreds of Muslims attacked the U.S. Embassy because some crank here in America put out an anti-Muslim video. Because of the Internet, that kind of stuff goes worldwide very quickly and the video gave those nuts in Cairo an excuse to turn violent.
To try to head that off, the U.S. embassy there issued a statement saying quote, “The Embassy of the United States in Cairo condemns the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims as we condemn efforts to offend believers of all religions”, unquote. Again, that statement was issued before, before the American Embassy was attacked last night.
Now, as “Talking Points” stated yesterday, Muslim fanatics will use any excuse to attack not only Americans but anyone they consider to be an infidel. There is no question about that.
And it is the responsibility of the Egyptian government to protect the American embassy. The Egyptian government did not do that so they must be held accountable.
Back here, the issue is clearly being used in the presidential campaign. Here is what Mitt Romney said about the U.S. embassy statement.

ROMNEY: They clearly sent mixed messages to the world and — and the statement that came from the administration — and the embassy is the administration — the statement that came from the administration was a — was a statement which is akin to apology and I think was a — a severe miscalculation.

O’REILLY: Now, I’m not sure the Governor is correct on that. The embassy was trying to head off the violence, being conciliatory in that kind of a situation seems logical. But, after the fact, after the attack on the embassy, I believe the USA should be much stronger than what President Obama said from the White House.

OBAMA: Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America. We will not waiver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. And make no mistake… justice will be done.

O’REILLY: But what kind of justice, Mr. President? The Libyan government is chaotic. No central authority there. And what will you do with the Egyptian government? We’re giving it $1.5 billion a year, for what? So our embassy can be attacked? They could have stopped it. On February 6th, 2011 I discussed the militant situation in Egypt with Mr. Obama.

O’REILLY: The Muslim Brotherhood grave concern to a lot of people — are they a threat to the USA?
OBAMA: I think that the Muslim Brotherhood is one faction in Egypt. They don’t have majority support in Egypt. They are — but they are well- organized and there are strains of their ideology that are anti-U.S.
What I want is a representative government in Egypt and I have confidence that if Egypt moves in an orderly transition process that we’ll have a government in Egypt that we can work with together as a partner.
O’REILLY: Those are tough boys, the Muslim Brotherhood I wouldn’t want them anywhere near that government.

O’REILLY: Well I hate to say this but I was right and the President was wrong. The Muslim Brotherhood dominates the Egyptian government right now. And I’m actually sorry that my prognostication came true.
“Talking Points” is fed up with Americans who sympathize with the Muslim world. There are far too many fanatics who persecute far too many people including their own. Women are battered, denied human rights and any dissent can result in execution. The Muslim governments themselves are responsible to control people like this.

O’REILLY: Going forward, America should now suspend its aid to Egypt. Deduct the cause of the damage to the American embassy, secure an apology from Cairo and let them know that attacks on Americans inside Egypt simply will not be tolerated.

| Parents of some elementary school students in Texas are furious over a class assignment in which children were asked to draw highly disturbing images depicting the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11.
The fourth-grade teacher gave specific instructions to students at Hughey Elementary School in El Paso, Ivie Gremillion, a parent of one of the students, told KFOXTV in El Paso. “We had to draw the boom cloud, the planes hitting, and people jumping out of the windows,” Gremillion’s daughter told her after the assignment was given out on Monday. The drawing by Gremillion’s daughter depicted people jumping out of burning buildings yelling, ‘Help,’ and ‘I love you,’ while another student’s drawing showed a person saying: ‘One way ticket to heaven.’ “That’s something that kids should get in trouble for drawing,” Gremillion said. “That’s people being murdered, committing suicide.” The lesson, however, did not stop there, Gremillion said. “The Afghans did this because they hate all of us and want to kill all of us,'” Gremillion claims the teacher told her daughter. Gremillion said her husband, who joined the Army because of Sept. 11 attacks, will be deployed to Afghanistan by the end of 2012. “She’s like, ‘My dad’s going to die,'” Gremillion quoted her daughter as saying. Gremillion said her neighbor’s son, who drew another similar picture, was also emotionally affected by the assignment. “He was under the impression this happens every 9/11, and he was scared to leave his house and go to school yesterday,” she said. Gremillion said she’d like a counselor to address the class to clarify the events of that day – without the gruesome details. “She doesn’t need to know that, not at her age,” said Gremillion. “The way she worded [it] is just teaching racism and hate for an entire nation, and that’s not OK.” In a statement to KFOXTV.com, El Paso Independent School District officials apologized for the assignment and said they spoke to the teacher, who said the terrorist attacks were part of a class discussion and that students were asked to draw something they learned during that lesson. Some students, school officials said, depicted images of police officers and firefighters who were labeled as heroes. “EPISD is very concerned about the images that were drawn in response to a lesson on the events of September 11,” the statement read. “District and campus administrators are investigating the specific assignment and are interviewing the personnel involved. We regret the insensitivity that this action may have caused and wish to assure our community that we will act swiftly in this matter and will take any and all appropriate action. We extend our sincere apologies.” |
Some say “weakness is a provocation.” Others say “peace through superior firepower.” Sarah Palin channeled Theodore Roosevelt when she said “if Obama doesn’t have a big stick, he needs to grow one.” Point taken because our country is being walked on at every opportunity by foreign thugs and Obama is laying on his back with his feet in the air like a whipped pup.

The murder of U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens in Libya on Wednesday is the direct consequence of President Obama’s weakness as a leader. His administration’s support of Islamist uprisings across the Middle East has led to a destabilized region where radical anti-Americanism is running rampant. The images being transmitted across the planet today give a glimpse of what the world looks like absent strong U.S. leadership in international affairs: Rioting mobs ripping down the American flag from our embassy in Cairo and a diplomat’s brutalized body being dragged through the streets of Benghazi. These are not isolated incidents but the predictable result of four years of Mr. Obama meekly trying to “lead from behind.”
Machiavelli famously wrote that it “is much safer to be feared than loved.” For most of the past century, the United States has pursued consistent policies so Washington didn’t have to choose between the two and simultaneously generated feelings of love for the freedom we espoused and fear for the consequences of raising our ire. The loyalty shown to Americans by nations freed from communist oppression behind the Iron Curtain is an example of the respect our country gained by consistently standing against tyranny anywhere in the world.
Libya in the 1980s is a perfect example of the respect gained by making evildoers pay the price for provoking the most powerful nation on Earth. After Americans were killed in terrorist attacks in Europe, more than 30 U.S. warplanes were launched to hammer targets in Tripoli and Benghazi. Hellfire poured down on military targets and command centers holding those responsible for backing the terrorists who caused the American deaths. In the reprisal, which was conducted in April 1986, Moammar Gadhafi’s daughter was killed, his sons were wounded and the Libyan dictator himself was reportedly injured. President Reagan went on national television after the raid and announced unapologetically, “When our citizens are abused or attacked anywhere in the world, we will respond in self-defense. Today we have done what we had to do. If necessary, we shall do it again.” Message delivered.
With members of his family, close entourage and senior advisers dead, Gadhafi disappeared from the world stage for a long time and eventually re-emerged seeking reconciliation and engagement with America and the West. Gadhafi experienced firsthand what should happen when innocent U.S. citizens are targeted, and subsequently his days as one of the leading supporters of global terrorism were over. This is how bad actors respond when a superpower shows toughness and resolve tempered by principle.
Paris also felt the brunt of getting in the way of American justice. After refusing flyover rights to our warplanes, adding thousands of miles to the retaliatory trip, the French embassy in Tripoli was accidentally bombed in a snafu eerily similar to the “mistaken” bombing of the Chinese embassy in Belgrade in 1999. After that hit, it was later disclosed that Beijing’s diplomats had been hiding Serbian intelligence units inside the embassy and that the People’s Republic of China (PRC) had been supplying anti-aircraft batteries to the Serbs to use against U.S. aircraft. (Libya, incidentally, served as the middleman for these missiles.) The lesson to take away from these events should be clear: America can hit anyone, any time, anywhere, so don’t mess with us.
Fast forward to 2012. The U.S. foreign-policy apparatus is under the control of Barack Hussein Obama, and America is neither feared nor respected. In fact, America is getting walked all over. Not only are U.S. installations under attack in the Muslim world, there are Russian submarines patrolling our coast in the Gulf, our southern border is crossed at will by Mexican drug gangs, Iran’s program to obtain nuclear weapons is unimpeded, and the secretary of state is jilted on an official visit to China, which happened last week. This is what logically follows from the policies implemented by Mr. Obama, such as pandering to Islam, instituting unilateral cuts to our nuclear arsenal, blathering about pushing a nonsensical reset button with Moscow, bestowing de-facto amnesty to illegal aliens, giving the mullahs a little wink and nod, publicly bowing to the PRC president and refusing to come to the aid of our allies when they are threatened by the mob. With every step, Mr. Obama has undermined America’s power position.
When he was running for president four years ago, then-Sen. Obama was photographed conspicuously carrying a copy of “The Post-American World” by Fareed Zakaria, the now-disgraced plagiarist who enthusiastically posited that, “The distribution of power is shifting, moving away from American dominance.” Such a shift is not inevitable but rather is the result of bad political decisions. Like Mr. Obama, President Jimmy Carter was embarrassed by U.S. power and retreated from our pre-eminent position as the bold, muscular leader of the free world. The result was national humiliation: In 1979, U.S. Ambassador to Afghanistan Adolph Dubs was killed by radicals in Kabul and the U.S. embassy was overrun in Tehran. If this week’s tragic murder of Ambassador Stevens and the attacks on our embassy in Cairo spark flashbacks of the disastrous Carter presidency, it’s no accident. America is a target when weak presidents occupy the White House.

President Obama made a brief statement this morning about the death of American Ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens, and three other Americans at our Libyan consulate yesterday. Obama’s prepared remarks reflected virtually word for word an earlier statement made by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Despite a CBS News report to the contrary, Obama claimed that the Libyan security forces “fought back against the attackers.” He also claimed that Libyan civilians attempted to aid Ambassador Stevens by transporting him to the hospital:
Libyan security personnel fought back against the attackers alongside Americans. Libyans helped some of our diplomats find safety, and they carried Ambassador Stevens’s body to the hospital, where we tragically learned that he had died.
Photographic images told a different story of the crowd’s conduct, however. Rather than aiding Ambassador Stevens, the crowd appeared to be dragging him through the streets. One image showed a member of the crowd carrying an unidentified man that appears to be Ambassador Stevens on his shoulders like a hunting trophy.

Today, speaking about the despicable and stomach-wrenching attacks by Islamists on our consulate in Benghazi, Libya, and our embassy in Cairo, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton asked: “How could this happen in a country we helped liberate, in a city we helped save from destruction?”
That single line is the most damning indictment of Hillary Clinton’s State Department that could ever be penned. It demonstrates her complete lack of knowledge about the region, her failure to anticipate security threats, and worst of all, her willful ignorance about the Islamists that she and President Obama trusted to take over Libya and Egypt.
“How could this happen?”
Clinton, as Secretary of State, should know the answer to that question. That she didn’t anticipate even the remote possibility of the murder of our ambassador to Libya by her erstwhile friends led to his death. The Secretary of State is responsible for ensuring the security of our embassies and consulates and staff, as the State Department website plainly acknowledges:
The Secretary of State, and by extension, the Chief of Mission (COM), are responsible for developing and implementing security policies and programs that provide for the protection of all U.S. Government personnel (including accompanying dependents) on official duty abroad. This mission is executed through the Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS). Personal and facility protection are the most critical elements of the DS mission abroadas they directly impact upon the Department’s ability to carry out its foreign policy. With terrorist organizations and coalitions operating across international borders, the threat of terrorism against U.S. interests remains great. Therefore, any U.S. mission overseas can be a target even if identified as being in a low-threat environment.
Even the State Department website acknowledges that the threat in places like Libya and Egypt “remains great,” even if targets are in a “low-threat environment,” which Benghazi and Cairo are certainly not.
Yet the evidence shows that despite ample evidence that Libyan Islamist terrorists were about to take action against US interests – including a taped message from Al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri released the day before the attacks, as well as a recent history of multiple attacks on diplomats in Benghazi — Hillary Clinton did nothing.
Actually, it’s worse than that: the consulate where Ambassador Chris Stevens was killed was an “interim facility” with zero Marines. None. Instead, it was staffed by Libyan security officers, who according to CBS News, told Ambassador Stevens to hide in a second building, then promptly directed the Islamist mob to him. He was murdered and dragged through the streets.
And what about Egypt? The Cairo Embassy is under the jurisdiction of the Secretary of State. The Cairo Embassy, of course, was busily tweeting just before it was attacked, condemning “the continuing efforts by misguided individuals to hurt the religious feelings of Muslims.” After the Embassy was breached, they doubled down on the tweet, stating, “This morning’s condemnation still stands.” Then Clinton herself released a statement on the consulate attacks in Libya, in which she stated, “The US deplores any intentional effort to denigrate the religious beliefs of others.”
Hillary Clinton is the Secretary of State. She is responsible for the security of State Department officials abroad, and she is responsible too for their public actions. When it comes to the security threats and the Cairo apologies, the question isn’t “How could this happen?” It’s the same question she asked of President George W. Bush in 2002, politicizing the September 11 attacks: What did Hillary Clinton know, and when did she know it?

Tonight, 2008 Republican vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin fired a shot across the bow of the Obama administration over its spineless response to radical Muslim takeovers of the US embassies in Egypt and Libya. She certainly didn’t hold back:
Apparently President Obama can’t see Egypt and Libya from his house. On the anniversary of the worst terrorist attacks ever perpetrated on America, our embassy in Cairo and our consulate in Benghazi were attacked by violent Islamic mobs. In Cairo, they scaled the walls of our embassy, destroyed our flag, and replaced it with a black Islamic banner. In Benghazi, the armed gunmen set fire to our consulate and killed an American staff member. The Islamic radicals claim that these attacks are in protest to some film criticizing Islam. In response to this, the U.S. Embassy in Cairo issued a statement that was so outrageous many of us thought it must be a satire. The Embassy actually apologized to the violent mob attacking us, and it even went so far as to chastise those who use free speech to “hurt the religious feelings of Muslims.” (Funny, the current administration has no problem hurting the “religious feelings” of Catholics.)
But where is the president’s statement about this? These countries represent his much touted “Arab Spring.” How’s that Arab Spring working out for us now? Have we received an apology yet from our “friends” in the Muslim Brotherhood for the assault on our embassy?
It’s about time our president stood up for America and condemned these Islamic extremists. I realize there must be a lot on his mind these days – what with our economy’s abysmal jobless numbers and Moody’s new warning about yet another downgrade to our nation’s credit rating due to the current administration’s failure to come up with a credible deficit reduction plan. And, of course, he has a busy schedule – with all those rounds of golf, softball interviews with the “Pimp with the Limp,” and fundraising dinners with his corporate cronies. But our nation’s security should be of utmost importance to our Commander-in-chief. America can’t afford any more “leading from behind” in such a dangerous world. We already know that President Obama likes to “speak softly” to our enemies. If he doesn’t have a “big stick” to carry, maybe it’s time for him to grow one.

The Right Scoop reports that unnamed mainstream media journalists were caught on a live mic coordinating hostile questions for Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney before his press conference today on the U.S. embassy attacks.
Their goal was to make sure that no question would address the substance of the crisis but instead put Romney on the defensive about made-up mistakes in his criticism of President Obama.
In the event, six out of the seven questions were almost exactly the same, all questioning Romney for his supposed mistake. (Romney handled the questions very well.)
By contrast, President Obama did not take questions at his press conference today–and rather than criticize the Obama administration’s failure to anticipate the 9/11 embassy attacks, the State Department’s eagerness to apologize for any offense caused by an obscure anti-Islamic film, or the Obama campaign’s immediate departure for a Las Vegas fundraiser in the midst of a profound crisis, the mainstream media is attacking Republican Mitt Romney for criticizing the president–and lying about what he said.

(CBS/AP) U.S. Ambassador to Libya J. Christopher Stevens was among four Americans killed in an attack by Muslim protesters on the U.S. consulate compound in Benghazi the previous evening, the U.S. government confirmed Wednesday.
“I strongly condemn the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi, which took the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens,” President Obama said in a written statement released Wednesday morning. The U.S. government had confirmed one American death on Tuesday.
President Obama said he had ordered heightened security at all U.S. diplomatic offices around the world in the wake of the attack in Benghazi and a similar but less violent incident in Cairo on Tuesday. Both incidents were sparked by hardline Muslims protesting a film made in the U.S. which insults the Muslim prophet Muhammad.
Military officials told CBS News an anti-terrorism team of U.S. Marines was being deployed to Libya to help secure U.S. interests in the country following the attack. The State Department said, however, that no Americans were remaining at the facility in Benghazi. State officials would not confirm how many Americans were evacuated, or to where.
Wanis al-Sharef, a Libyan Interior Ministry official in Benghazi, said the four Americans were killed when the angry mob, which gathered to protest a U.S.-made film that ridicules Islam’s Prophet Muhammad, fired guns and burned down the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.
He said Stevens, 52, and other officials were moved to a second building – deemed safer – after the initial wave of protests at the consulate compound. According to al-Sharef, members of the Libyan security team seem to have indicated to the protesters the building to which the American officials had been relocated, and that building then came under attack.
Stevens, 52, was the first U.S. ambassador to be killed in the line of duty since 1979. A Libyan doctor who says he treated Stevens told the Associated Press Wednesday that the diplomat died of severe asphyxiation and that he tried for 90 minutes to revive him.
Ziad Abu Zeid said Stevens was brought to the Benghazi Medical Center by Libyans Tuesday night with no other Americans, and that initially no one realized he was the ambassador. Abu Zeid said Stevens had “severe asphyxia,” apparently from smoke inhalation, causing stomach bleeding, but had no other injuries.
Al-Sharef said two U.S. Marines sent to Benghazi when the clash erupted were shot and killed by the well-armed protesters. It was not immediately clear whether the Marines were part of Stevens’ security detail. The American whose death was confirmed on Tuesday also died of a gunshot wound. He was identified by the State Department on Wednesday as Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith.
Deputy Libyan Prime Minister Mustafa Abushagur said on his Twitter account that, “Amb. Stevens was a friend of Libya and we are shocked at the attacks on the U.S. consulate.” The Libyan Prime Minister also expressed grief and condemned the attack.
According to his biography page on the U.S. Embassy’s website, Stevens “was the American representative to the Transitional National Council in Benghazi during the revolution,” in Libya. Benghazi was the capital of rebel-held Libya during the uprising to oust Qaddafi.

According to al-Sharef, the angry mob stormed the consulate after the U.S. troops who responded fired rounds into the air to try and disperse the crowd. Al-Sharef said there had been threats that Islamic militants might try to take revenge for the death of al Qaeda’s No. 2 commander Abu Yahya al-Libi, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Pakistan in June, and he said the U.S. consulate should have been better protected.
Confirming al-Libi’s death for the first time in a video posted online Monday, al Qaeda chief Ayman Al-Zawahri called on Muslim’s in al-Libi’s native Libya to take revenge for his death.
Al-Sharef said the Libyan guards employed to guard the consulate building were far outgunned by the protesters, and thus retreated when the building was stormed.
Hours before the protest erupted in Benghazi, protesters scaled the walls of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egypt, tearing down and replacing the American flag with an Islamic banner.
CBS News’ Alex Ortiz reported from Cairo that about 40 or 50 protesters had again gathered in front of the U.S. Embassy on Wednesday, but they were far outnumbered by Egyptian security personnel.
Tuesday’s attacks were the first such assaults on U.S. diplomatic facilities in either country, at a time when both Libya and Egypt are struggling to overcome the turmoil following the ouster of their longtime leaders, Muammar Qaddafi and Hosni Mubarak, in uprisings last year.

‘Hurt the religious feelings of muslims??’ It’s islamic doctrine to kill those who do not believe. Their ‘hurt feelings’ are just cover for an opportunity to violate the liberties and lives of non-muslims. Christians are persecuted daily in Libya but due to the Lord’s words “love your enemies” it is church doctrine and general good manners not to kill others for differing opinions. Romney is right- Obama is apologetic to our enemies. I add that he is sympathetic to muslims. He said so in his semi-fictious autobiography.

My journeys to Tampa and Charlotte were instructive but not very exciting. The Republican convention featured three main messages. The President has failed to improve the economy and has no clue on what to do next but Mitt Romney does and can improve things. And that’s it. It took four days to get that out.
Things are a bit more complicated on the Democratic side as that party is divided. Traditional Democrats continue to support President Obama but seem a bit uneasy with the radical turn the party is taking.
I mean look at the prime time speakers. The head of Planned Parenthood who wants abortion without limits with taxpayers’ funding. And just to make sure we didn’t miss that point, Sandra Fluke was given a high profile speaking slot to put forth her vision of the country.

O’REILLY: Now, Ms. Fluke came across as smug and immature in my opinion. In fact, writing in the “Wall Street Journal” Peggy Noonan called Ms. Fluke a quote, “ninny, a narcissist, and a fool”, unquote.
Dennis Miller also had a great line. He said, “The Democrats are for cradle to grave entitlements. It’s getting to the cradle that’s the hard part.” Then it was Caroline Kennedy who offended millions of
Christians worldwide when she said this.

Now, “Talking Points” does not believe there is a war on women or Hispanics Americans or black Americans or anybody else. “T-Points” believes the economy is bad and the Democratic Party should spend the bulk of its time trying to fix that rather than ginning up phony controversies and promoting divisive class warfare. I simply cannot figure out why President Obama has handed his party over to extremists.
The biggest positive in Charlotte was Bill Clinton, a moderate Democrat. If Mr. Obama thinks Planned Parenthood and Sandra Fluke are going to get him elected he is making a major mistake. Most Americans aren’t ideologues; they just want to give themselves and their families a decent life. Mr. Obama is misreading the country’s mood and his speech demonstrated that. Most Americans still like him and many will vote for him again.
But the more he embraces the radical left, the more he shows disdain for American tradition and that includes capitalism, the more likely it is that he will lose. The President knows he has not fulfilled his promise to return the nation to prosperity.
So the long knives and the loons are out, hoping to distract the voting public. That’s not going to work this time.

Whatever bounce Obama got was in the blue states. In the swing states, it’s still way too close to call. Today’s Rasmussen poll results show that in the eleven swing states, including Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin, which total 145 electoral votes, it’s Obama 46% and Romney 45%. In 2008, Obama won these states 53% to 46%.

The New York Post has accepted a full-page ad declaring Barack Obama’s real biological father is the late Communist Party activist Frank Marshall Davis, not the Kenyan Barack Hussein Obama.
The ad will run in the Post’s New York City, national and international editions Tuesday and Sunday.
Convincing the newspaper to accept the full-page ad required Gilbert to go personally to the Post’s main editorial office in Manhattan.
“It took a lot of discussion,” Gilbert told WND, “but we were given a very favorable position at the front of the newspaper in the news section.”

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A Democratic congressional candidate from Maryland has dropped out of the race after the state party said she had voted in both Maryland and Florida in the 2006 general election and in the 2008 presidential primaries.
Wendy Rosen confirmed to The Associated Press that she was withdrawing from the 1st District congressional race. She did not elaborate beyond a statement citing “personal issues.”
The 57-year-old Miami native lives in Cockeysville, Md. She was running against first-term Republican congressman Andy Harris.
A spokesman for the Maryland Democratic Party, Matthew Verghese, says party officials learned Friday night of Rosen’s voting record.
State officials say it’s too late to take Rosen’s name off the ballot. She won her primary race in April by a margin of less than 1 percentage point.

The Public Policy Polling PPP has a new poll out that in Ohio Obama has his biggest lead since May. Given how hard it might be for Mitt Romney to win the White House without winning Ohio, that’s a big deal. But a secondary finding in the poll has gotten a lot of attention. . .
PPP asked voters who they thought deserved more credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden: Obama or Romney? 63 percent said Obama, 31 percent weren’t sure, and 6 percent said Romney!
The results for Republican voters were even more astonishing. 38 percent said Obama, 47 percent weren’t sure, and 15 percent said Romney!

However, weak economic job indicators and President Barack Obama’s actions regarding immigration have many veteran celebrants changing political preferences.
Pocketbook and patriotic issues motivate Virginia’s Latin community, which remains critical in this election. Former Govs. George Allen and Tim Kaine, both vying for the U.S. Senate, are greatly affected, along with the presidential candidates.
With more Hispanics serving in the military than ever, confounded are political attitudes over Obama’s presidential edict granting protection from deportation for certain illegals in our high schools and colleges or if they served in America’s armed forces.Furious are the communities of the “legally assimilated,” taking great offense at undocumented families being used as pawns to gain political advantage. A failure to fix the nation’s guest worker program or pass the Dream Act when Obama’s administration controlled both houses of Congress have Latinos seriously questioning their November votes.
So how many of Virginia’s 183,000 eligible Hispanic voters who obeyed immigration laws will support candidates who put their jobs in jeopardy? When government reports indicate that 10.3 percent of all Hispanic families are unemployed and 26.6 percent live in poverty, loyalties change.
Focused officials in localities like Prince William County, which are 20 percent Hispanic with a growing veterans community, understand the stakes.
“It is indeed about employment and wrong to put job security in question for veterans. Aside from the consequences of sequestration, there must be compassion for immigrants who proudly serve our nation,” states Prince William Del. Rich Anderson, a retired Air Force colonel who chairs the General Assembly’s Military and Veterans Caucus. He correctly recognizes that new federal mandates can compromise veterans’ employment.
Jobs, parity and the quest for a better life are common denominators among immigrants from countries in conflict. Moving testimonials from RNC and DNC conventions chronicling elected Latino officials’ family histories resonate with millions of Hispanics with similar backgrounds who seek economic prosperity.
My own grandfather fled a Mexican nation in revolution over runaway inflation, land reform, corruption and incredible taxation to become a Latin media business pioneer. Hispanic seniors remind traditionally Democratic leaning families of President Kennedy’s 1962 statement, “Cutting taxes now is not to incur a budget deficit, but to achieve the more prosperous, expanding economy which can bring a budget surplus,” which inexplicably counters today’s Democratic Party tax increase requests.
Such are the kitchen table issues for generations of Hispanics who served honorably during WWII, Korea, Vietnam and in the Middle East. Utilizing their entrepreneurial spirit, Hispanics created millions of businesses in spite of immigration policies many consider a national disgrace.
America’s usurpation of existing laws regarding immigration further divides a proud people politically. Sadly, an inability to acknowledge our difficult immigration history with compassionate words or actions regrettably typecasts many Virginia conservative candidates. Conversely Democratic candidates pander to Latin communities by promoting welfare programs rather than responsibly addressing immigration to enhance job creation.
Hispanic votes in Virginia may indeed hinge on the unresolved immigration issue. Lacking considerable sensitivity, even some of Virginia’s tea party leaders wrongly embrace “a no immigrant, period” policy to protect jobs.
Demonstrating political diversity, over 100 of the Commonwealth’s Hispanic educators, business owners, community leaders and veterans gather Sept. 29 at the home of Theresa Alvillar-Speake of Northern Virginia for their yearly celebration of Hispanic heritage. This year they honor Senate candidate George Allen, who will receive their highest jobs creation award.
“Hispanics represent the fastest growing segment of the small business community. This election is about who best can represent this culture and promote jobs in our community,” Alvillar-Speake added. She reminds that Allen, as governor, helped create over 300,000 Virginia jobs.
While immigrants celebrate their proud heritage, Democratic strategist James Carvel’s words, “It’s the economy stupid,” echo as clarion reminders.
Are Republican and Democratic candidates listening? Hispanics are — and will vote with our wallets.

So perfect was this piece of theatre that earlier this week there was a successful Empty Chair Day organized by the grassroots in New Media and, throughout the remaining days of this election, the specter of the “empty chair” will be synonymous with America’s deflating enthusiasm for Obama and his inability to command the crowds he once did.
Today, Eastwood doubled down on how awesome he is by granting his first post-convention interview — not to Diane Sawyer, not to “The Today Show, not to “60 Minutes” — but to his hometown newspaper, “The Carmel Pine Cone.”

Mitt Romney slammed President Obama over a disappointing August jobs report in a statement Friday, declaring that “if last night was the party, this morning is the hangover.”
“For every net new job created, nearly four Americans gave up looking for work entirely. This is more of the same for middle class families who are suffering through the worst economic recovery since the Great Depression,” Romney continued. “After 43 straight months of unemployment above 8 percent, it is clear that President Obama just hasn’t lived up to his promises and his policies haven’t worked. We aren’t better off than they were four years ago.”
The economy added 96,000 jobs in August, and unemployment fell from 8.3 to 8.1 percent. But economists had expected around 150,000 jobs to be added, and the 368,000 people who dropped out of the workforce last month is the highest amount in years.

One man and two women became the first people granted a three-way civil union in Brazil, CNN reports.
The Brazilian public notary who granted the trio all of the legal benefits of marriage has set off a firestorm. Claudia do Nascimento Domingues is defending her move, calling the three a “polyfidelitous union.”
The relationship involves three professionals in their 30s who live together and say they love one another as equals and are like any other non-married cohabiting couple, CNN reports. They have not been identified.
Some, including religious groups and legal scholars, say the union is not valid and would be the beginning of a slippery slope.
“This union is void of any legality,” said Regina Beatriz Tavares da Silva, head of the family law committee of a lawyers’ association in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Brazilian law defines marriage as a union between two people, so it is impossible for a civil union of three to be granted the rights of a marriage of two.
“It goes directly against the constitution,” da Silva told CNN. “Monogamy is defined as relations between two, not three or four or five.”
Domingues however says the three deserve some benefits. They live together in Rio de Janeiro, they share a bank account, and they want protection in case of separation or death, she told CNN.

If you had the biggest scoop of the night that would break open the biggest story of the night, would you bury it? Well, Politico did …
Obama had seen the language prior to the convention, a campaign source said, but did not seek to change it until after Republicans jumped on the omissions of God and Jerusalem late Wednesday. And even then, it had to be forced through a convention hall full of delegates who nearly shouted down the change.
Yes, you read that correctly. Politico was told by a source that all the spin coming from the White House and the Obama campaign wasn’t true — that, in fact, Obama had seen the new language long before the media uproar and did not seek to change it.
Not only is this news a big deal and the kind of story that should launch a thousand more inquiries, but it makes sense. Just from a logical point of view, it makes total sense that Obama would thoroughly read his own party’s platform after it was passed or at the very least be given a memo that highlighted any changes.

Burgess Owens talks to WND
Retired National Football League star Burgess Owens, a Super Bowl champion with the Oakland Raiders, has urged African-Americans not to vote for Barack Obama simply on the basis of race.
In his newly published e-book, “It’s All About Team: Exposing the Black Talented Tenth,” Owens recounts how he grew up as a liberal Democrat and supported Jimmy Carter. Owens told WND in an exclusive interview last week in Tampa, during the Republican National Convention, that his faith in God has inspired his life.
Owens said social welfare programs promoted by the Democratic Party have created a government dependency within black communities to the detriment of the family and economic progress.
The progressive policies of the Democratic Party, he said, have created a culture of “defeat, breakdown, failure and collapse” in the African-American community, where abortion has taken the lives of 13 million black babies since 1973, an average of 325,000 deaths each year.
Owens has rejected “War on Poverty” government dependency in favor of the principles of our Founding Fathers.
“It is no accident that this country has been blessed with its abundance and its history as the freest and most productive in the world,” he writes in his book. “As its citizens humbly recommit to an acceptance of guidance from the God of our fathers, our nation will once again see the miraculous resurrection of the proud, responsible, visionary black father. And with him, his family and community will be lifted.”
Owens identifies with the themes of private enterprise and individual initiative.
“It’s heartwarming to hear from just normal Americans the same thing over and over again, ‘I went out there and I worked it, and I built it,’” he told WND. “That ‘I built it’ is the American way, and it comes back down to how are we’re going to change the black community.”
For Owens, that formula begins with belief in God, the restoration of the black family and the encouragement of black children to get an education to prepare them to compete economically.
