More Evidence of Rampant Fraud in Lifeline Free Phone Program

Investigators working for Scripps Media have interviewed a former employee for a provider of free phone service, sometimes known as Obamaphones, who admits to forging signatures on applications.

A two-part video report by Scripps was further confirmed by National Review Online in a story published Monday. In the following story, former TerraCom, Inc. employee Reggie Strode describes how he, and other TerraCom employees, would routinely sign forms on behalf of new customers. Strode earned $3 for each new sign-up while TerraCom earned $9 a month per individual:

Fraud has been an ongoing concern for the lifeline program. One survey found that9 percent of those receiving phones were not eligible for the program, which is paid for by a special charge on cell phone bills. However a significant percentage of recipients choose not to respond to questions about their eligibility making it possible the actual abuse of the program is much greater.

Movie-house owners — as well as disability advocates — are anxiously awaiting the release of an Obama administration proposal that would require theaters to install expensive technology so deaf and blind patrons can enjoy their films.

The proposal started within the Justice Department’s civil rights division in 2010 and now appears to be getting a White House review, with the final proposal expected to be made public in the coming weeks. The new policy would call for closed-captioning and audio narration technology to be installed, in a change supporters argue will give Americans with disabilities the same quality of experience as other movie-goers.
However, theater owners — particularly those with small, independent houses — say they cannot afford the technology shift which starts with converting to digital cinema.
The cost of that is about $70,000 per screen, though most theaters have already gone digital. Theaters then would have to purchase the headsets that narrate films for the blind and glasses that provide the closed-captioning for the deaf, at an additional cost.
“It is expense after expense, mandate after mandate,” said Joanne Howe, the owner of the Clayton Theatre, a movie house in the tiny southern Delaware town of Dagsboro. “The cost is a small fortune for a small theater like us.”
Howe told FoxNews.com that she had been showing films on the Clayton’s original projector from 1949 and had to ask for community donations and hold fundraisers to help pay for the digital upgrade – needed in part because Hollywood now distributes video, not film.
An industry expert says roughly 90 percent of U.S. movie houses already have the digital technology and 55 percent have the narration and closed-captioning devices.
The original Justice Department proposal to revise the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability, called for the changes to be made to roughly half the country’s estimated 40,000 movie screens.
However, it remains unclear what sparked renewed interest in the proposal, which has been before the Justice Department for almost three years.
The White House did not respond to questions about the disposition of the proposal, which leaves unclear exactly when it will be made public or how many theaters must make the changes.
But sources point to a recent administration notice — involving the department and the White House Office of Budget and Management –about a “Notice of Proposed Rulemaking” in October that appears to have alarmed movie theater owners.
The Justice Department didn’t comment on the proposal but provided a link to the public notice.
Another possibility is that the proposal gained attention following Capitol Hill testimony in May from Justice Department lawyer Eve Hill.
“Movies are part of our shared cultural experience,” she told the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions. “When individuals with sensory disabilities have the opportunity to attend movies that they can actually understand through the use of captions or audio description, they are exposed to new ideas and gain knowledge that contributes to their social development.”
Eric Bridges, a spokesman for the National Association of the Blind, declined to comment in detail until the report is made public but said the group in general “wants as much video description [of movies] as we can get.”
He also said the group has asked for similar accommodations for TV and live events including theater.
The National Association of Theatre Owners also has declined to comment until it reviews the final proposal.
Howe and husband Ed’s fundraising effort included “Clayton Classic” nights that started in January with “Casablanca,” and raising money from a book on the history of the theater. The theater originally opened with “One Touch of Venus,” starring Ava Gardner, and is named after former Secretary of State and Delaware Sen. John M. Clayton.
“It would be a shame” if the theater couldn’t meet the added costs, Joanne Howe said. “We’ve worked so hard.”

The Mexican consulate general in Los Angeles said the bill’s passage was long overdue.

“From the very beginning, a long time ago, we were very much interested in having our people having a driver’s license. For us, it’s a working instrument,” said Carlos M. Sada.

Alejo had held the bill on Wednesday after it became clear that immigrant rights groups were opposed to a provision that calls for the licenses to have a special designation on them. They fear that having a license that looks differently from those held by citizens could lead to discrimination.

The licenses for those living in the country illegally will have a note which states, “This card is not acceptable for official federal purposes. This license is issued only as a license to drive a motor vehicle. It does not establish eligibility for employment or public benefit.”

CIA Employee Who Refused to Sign Non-Disclosure on Benghazi Suspended

Rep. Wolf: Employee forced to hire legal counsel

A CIA employee who refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement barring him from discussing the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, has been suspended as a result and forced to hire legal counsel, according to a top House lawmaker.
Rep. Frank Wolf (R., Va.) revealed at an event on Monday that his office was anonymously informed about the CIA employee, who is purportedly facing an internal backlash after refusing to sign a legal document barring him from publicly or privately discussing events surrounding the Benghazi attack.
The revelation comes about a month after several media outlets reported that CIA employees with knowledge of the terror attack had been forced to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDA) and submit to regular polygraph tests.
“The reports on the NDA are accurate. We’re getting people who call,” Wolf said Monday during an event marking the launch of the Citizens’ Commission on Benghazi, a panel of former military and intelligence officials who are investigating unanswered questions surrounding the Benghazi incident.
Wolf’s office first received the anonymous call earlier in the summer, soon after CNN and Fox News reported on the NDAs and polygraph tests.
The caller told Wolf’s staff that an unnamed CIA employee has been suspended after refusing to sign a Benghazi-related NDA.
“My office received a call from a man saying that he knew a CIA employee who has retained legal counsel because he has refused to sign an additional NDA regarding the Sept. 11, 2012, events in Benghazi,” Wolf said in Sept. 9 remarks at a panel discussion hosted by Judicial Watch.
“I called the law firm and spoke with CIA employee’s attorney who confirmed that her client is having an issue with the agency and the firm is trying to address it,” Wolf said. “Based on my past experiences with the CIA, which is headquartered in my congressional district, I am not at all confident that these efforts will be successful.”
The NDA agreements are meant to instill fear in employees and stop them from speaking “to the media or Congress,” Wolf said on Monday.
The CIA declined to comment directly on Wolf’s charges, but forwarded the Washington Free Beacon a letter sent to Congress from CIA Director John Brennan in which he denies charges that the agency has forced employees to sign NDAs and submit to polygraph tests.
“I want to assure you that I will not tolerate any effort to prevent our intelligence oversight committee from doing their jobs,” Brennan hand wrote at the bottom of the letter.
Monday’s Benghazi discussion came on the same day that House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R., Calif.) released a report detailing multiple shortcomings in the State Department’s internal investigation into failures related to the Benghazi attack.
Issa says that the State Department “obstructed” congressional investigators, was “not comprehensive” in nature, “did not conduct thorough interviews,” and that more senior officials were not held to account.
“The ARB was not fully independent,” Issa said in a statement. “The panel did not exhaustively examine failures and it has led to an unacceptable lack of accountability.”
“While Ambassador [Thomas] Pickering and Admiral [Michael] Mullen have honorably served their country, the families of victims and the American people continue to wait for more conclusive answers about how our government left our own personnel so vulnerable and alone the night of the attack,” Issa said.
The newly formed Citizens’ Commission on Benghazi has similar goals as congressional investigators but is not confined by rules governing the legislative body, speakers at the event said.
Retired Air Force Col. Richard Brauer, cofounder of the group Special Operations Speaks, said the committee would aim to find out why U.S. military assets were ordered to “stand down” during the Benghazi attack.
“We’re tired of the lies and the cover-up that continues to this day,” Brauer said. “Who gave the order” to stand down, “to remain in place in Tripoli and the other locations and do nothing. When was this order given and why?”
“Forces were available on that very night, likely champing at the bit, but they were told to stand down,” he said. “These are words that will live in infamy.”

First lady: Obama will ‘shake his groove thing’

Michelle Obama says the beats and melodies in Latin music are so irresistible that even President Barack Obama “will shake his groove thing” Monday night.

Gloria Estefan, Romeo Santos, Lila Downs, Marco Antonio Solis and other top Latin musicians are joining the Obamas to tape the latest installment of the PBS series, “In Performance at the White House.” It will celebrate the various styles of Latin music during Hispanic Heritage Month, which began Sunday.

Obama is scheduled to make brief remarks.

The first lady spoke during a late-morning workshop for local high school students with some of the artists, including Estefan and her husband, Emilio, of Miami Sound Machine.

In the early nineteenth century, Mexico, with a little influence from the US and France, began talking about a revolt against Spain. Father Miguel Hidalgo from Dolores, Mexico, was a leader of one of the rallying groups. Hidalgo and his officers were planning a revolt for late fall of 1810. The Spanish people found out about the revolt which led the Spanish Government to order the arrest of Hidalgo and his officers. When Hidalgo found out, he called a meeting at his church. He rang the church bell on the night of September 15, 1810 to call his congregation to mass. Here Father Hidalgo rallied the people to fight. He gave the speech which is now known as ‘Grito de Delores’, saying “Viva Mexico” and “Viva la independencia!” These famous words have been remembered and are said each year at the Independence Day celebrations.

Everyone fought together, including the Criollos (wealthy Mexicans of Spanish descent), Mesizos (children born from the marriage of a Spaniard and an Indian), and Indians. Armed with clubs, knives, stone slings, and ancient guns, they fought as they marched to Mexico City. A battle took place in Guanajuato between the Spanish soldiers and Hidalgo’s followers. The army sacked the town, killing the Spaniards. They continued to fight on their way to the capital. When they finally reached Mexico City, the army hesitated before going in to fight and some of them even disserted the army. Before the year was over Father Hidalgo was captured and executed. Some people continued to fight for the cause and Father Hidalgo’s Grito de Delores (Cry of Delores) became the battle cry of the Mexican War of Independence. The people fought for eleven years before they finally won their freedom.

Today Mexican Independence Day is a major celebration in Mexico and is bigger than Cinco de Mayo. It is celebrated with a fiesta (party). The celebrating begins on September 15 (the eve of Independence Day) where crowds of people gather in the zocalos (town meeting place) of cities, towns, and villages. In Mexico City a huge square is decorated with flags, flowers and lights of red, white, and green. People sell confetti, whistles, horns, paper-machete helmets, and toys in the colors of red, white and green. There is also plenty of feasting! When the clock strikes eleven o’clock the crowd gets silent. On the last strike of eleven the president of Mexico steps out on the palace balcony, and rings the historic liberty bell that Father Hidalgo rang to call the people. Then the president gives the Grito de Delores. He shouts “Viva Mexico” “Viva la independencia” and the crowd echoes back. People do this at the same time all across Mexico. While the crowd says this they fill the air with confetti, streamers and hoopla. Castillos explode in showers of red, white, and green.

The actual day of September 16 is similar to July Fourth in the US. There are rodeos, parades, bullfights, horseback rider performances and grand feasts. The statues in memory of Father Hidalgo are decorated with red, white, and green flowers. The Mexican Flag is made up of green, white, and red. The green is on the left side of the flag and symbolizes independence. White is the color in the middle of the flag and symbolizes religion. The red is on the right side of the flag and symbolizes union. These colors are used often in decorating for the Mexican Independence Day fiesta.

The combat code of the US Military is that we don’t abandon our dead or wounded on the battlefield. In US Air Force lingo, fighter pilots don’t run off and leave their wingmen. If one of our own is shot down, still alive and not yet in enemy captivity, we will either come to get him or die trying.

Among America’s fighting forces, the calm, sure knowledge that such an irrevocable bond exists is priceless. Along with individual faith and personal grit, it is a sacred trust that has often sustained hope in the face of terribly long odds.

The disgraceful abandonment of our Ambassador and those brave ex-SEALs who fought to their deaths to save others in that compound is nothing short of dereliction-of-duty.

Additionally, the patently absurd cover-up scenario that was fabricated in the aftermath was an outright lie in an attempt to shield the President and the Secretary of State from responsibility.

It has been over eight months since the attack on our compound in Benghazi . The White House strategy, with the aid of a “lap dog” press, has been to run out the clock before the truth is forthcoming.

The recent testimonies of the three “whistle blowers” have re-opened the subject and hopefully will lead to exposure and disgrace of those responsible for this embarrassing debacle. It would appear that the most recent firewall which the Administration is counting on is the contention “that there were simply no military assets that could be brought to bear in time to make a difference” mainly due to the unavailability of tanker support for fighter aircraft.

This is simply BS, regardless how many supposed “experts” the Administration trot out to make such an assertion.

The bottom line is that even if the closest asset capable of response was half-way around the world, you don’t just sit on your penguin ass and do nothing.

The fact is that the closest asset was not half-way around the world, but as near as Aviano Air Base, Italy, where two squadrons of F-16Cs are based.

Consider the following scenario (all times Benghazi local): When Hicks in Tripoli receives a call at 9:40 P.M. from Ambassador Stevens informing him “Greg, we are under attack!” (his last words), Hicks immediately notifies all agencies and prepares for the immediate initiation of an existing “Emergency Response Plan.”

At AFRICON, General Carter Ham attempts to mount a rescue effort, but is told to “stand down.” By 10:30 P.M. an unarmed drone is overhead the compound and streaming live feed to various “Command and Control Agencies” so everyone watching that feed knew damn well what was going on.

At 11:30 P.M. Woods, Doherty and five others leave Tripoli, arriving in Benghazi at 1:30 A.M. on Wednesday morning, where they hold off the attacking mob from the roof of the compound until they are killed by a mortar direct hit at 4:00 A.M.

So nothing could have been done, eh? Nonsense. If one assumes that tanker support really “was not available” what about this:

When at 10:00 P.M. AFRICON alerts the 31st TFW Command Post in Aviano Air Base, Italy, of the attack, the Wing Commander orders preparation for the launch of two F-16s and advises the Command Post at NAS Sigonella to prepare for hot pit refueling and quick turn of the jets.

By 11:30 P.M. two F-16Cs with drop tanks and each armed with five hundred 20 MM rounds are airborne. Flying at 0.92 mach they will cover the 522 nautical miles directly to NAS Sigonella in 1.08 hours. While in-route the flight lead is informed of the tactical situation, rules of engagement, and radio frequencies to use.

The jets depart Sigonella at 1:10 A.M. with full fuel load and cover the 377 nautical miles directly to Benghazi in 0.8 hours, arriving at 1:50 A.M. which would be 20 minutes after the arrival of Woods, Doherty and their team.

Providing that the two F-16s initial pass over the mob, in full afterburner at 200 feet and 550 knots did not stop the attack in its tracks, a few well placed strafing runs on targets of opportunity would assuredly do the trick.

Were the F-16s fuel state insufficient to return to Sigonelli after jettisoning their external drop tanks, they could easily do so at Tripoli International Airport, only one-half hour away.

As for those hand-wringing naysayers who would worry about IFR clearances, border crossing authority, collateral damage, landing rights, political correctness and dozens of other reasons not to act — screw them. It is time our “leadership” get its priorities straight and put America’s interests first.

The end result would be that Woods and Doherty would be alive. Dozens in the attacking rabble would be rendezvousing with “72 virgins” and a clear message would have been sent to the next worthless POS terrorist contemplating an attack on Americans that it is not really a good idea to “tug” on Superman’s cape.

Of course all this depends upon a Commander In Chief more concerned with saving the lives of those he put in harm’s way than getting his crew rested for a campaign fund raising event in Las Vegas the next day. It also depends upon a Secretary of State who actually understood “What difference did it make?” and a Secretary of Defense who was watching the feed from the drone and understood what the attack consisted of instead of making an immediate response that “One of the military tenants is that you don’t commit assets until you fully understand the tactical situation.”

Ultimately it comes down to the question of who gave that order to stand down? Whoever that coward turns out to be should be exposed, removed from office, and face criminal charges for dereliction of duty. NEW YORK (AP) — It was perhaps a fitting end to an Anthony Weiner mayoral run that couldn’t seem to escape a sexting scandal.
Outside a “victory” party where supporters mourned a disappointing fifth-place finish in the Democratic primary, cameras were crowded around Sydney Leathers, the 23-year-old woman whose sexting with the former congressman brought his once-high-flying campaign to a screeching halt.
“Why not be here?” Leathers asked reporters. “I’m kind of the reason he’s losing. So, might as well show up.”
To avoid an embarrassing confrontation, Weiner’s staff sneaked him into his own event through a side entrance. His wife, Huma Abedin, who stood by his side at the height of the scandal, was nowhere to be seen.
And after a concession speech in which he got choked up as he spoke of family, he was caught by a photographer giving an obscene gesture to reporters as he was driven away.
Leathers, who has launched a porn career since the scandal broke, said Weiner needed “to stop being an embarrassment to the city of New York. He’s going to continue this behavior. If it’s not going to be me, it’s going to be some other girl.”
For his part, Weiner acknowledged in his at-times emotional concession speech that he was an “imperfect messenger.”
Weiner had been in political exile since he resigned from Congress in 2011 for sending women lewd online messages and pictures. He got into the mayor’s race in May, and aside from a few dust-ups with hecklers, was largely well-received at first, holding the lead for most of June and July.
But after an obscure gossip website named The Dirty released X-rated exchanges between Weiner and Leathers that took place well after the candidate quit the House of Representatives, Weiner –and his sexting pseudonym, Carlos Danger, once again became a national punchline.
With 96 percent of precincts reporting Tuesday night, Weiner was far behind in the city’s Democratic mayoral primary, with about 5 percent of the vote.

The Department of Defense announced today the death of an airman who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Staff Sgt. Todd J. Lobraico Jr., 22, of New Fairfield, Conn., died Sept. 5, 2013, from wounds sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire near Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan.

He was assigned to the 105th Security Forces Squadron at Stewart Air National Guard Base, N.Y.

Lobraico is survived by his parents.

He played with a few of his usual group of junior staffers – Mike Brush, Marvin Nicholson, and Joe Paulsen. But just minutes after the press pool reported Obama is on the golf course, the White House made sure to issue the pooler the following bulletin:

This afternoon, the President received an update from his Chief of Staff, Denis McDonough, on the administration’s latest consultations with members of Congress. The President will make additional calls to members of Congress this weekend.

Rep. Frank Wolf: 20 things we know a year after Benghazi attack

Nearly one year after the Benghazi terror attack, questions remain unanswered and the investigation incomplete, says Virginia Republican Rep. Frank Wolf.
Even with six different committees looking into aspects of the attack and the response by the Obama State Department, “The Congress, as of this moment, has failed to carry out its oversight responsibility,” Wolf told The Daily Caller.
The solution, he said, is a single “select committee” with the authority and resources to get to the bottom of the U.S. government’s inept response.
The public still has not learned why help was not sent to the U.S. diplomatic outpost in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012, to rescue Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Ty Woods, Sean Smith and Glen Doherty.
As a congressman of 22 years whose Northern Virginia district includes many in the federal workforce, and as a powerful appropriations subcommittee chairman, Wolf has been pressing for a select committee for months.
In this interview, Wolf discusses twenty things we know a year after the incident, including that someone issued “stand-down orders” preventing any attempt to rescue our brave Americans, violating the longstanding ethos of the American military to never leave a soldier behind.
He also confirms how some federal employees watched the incident real time, “like a movie,” saying he has seen some of that footage. He discusses a hero who is severely wounded and still at Walter Reed hospital, but who, perhaps like others, has never been properly thanked by a nation for his heroism.
Wolf describes the stonewalling and intimidation of others who know what happened. Some have had to sign legally binding “non-disclosure agreements” with occasional “polygraph testing” to ensure the public never learns the facts. And he discusses how a Libyan plane, not an American plane, brought the wounded Americans home.
What difference does this make?
“I know that Hillary Clinton is now receiving $200,000 a speech,” Wolf said. “I also know that Susan Rice, who went on five talk shows saying that it was the video, is now the national security advisor. I also know that Leon Panetta signed a $3 million book deal. I also know that General Petraeus is now working for the large Wall Street firm up in New York and making a lot of money. I also know that Jack Lew, the chief of staff, is now the secretary of treasury. So they have all gotten rewards, but I also know that four people died who are American heroes and patriots, and two were seriously wounded, and several others were wounded. The comparison of that situation, I think, is just not very good.”
This week, some in Congress are memorializing the Benghazi anniversary with services, speeches or social-media ribbon campaigns. As they do, Rep. Wolf continues to press the House Republican leadership team to finish this investigation with professional, careful, bipartisan oversight so what happened in Benghazi never happens again and so that the families of the fallen can rest knowing the truth.

A 64-year old disabled Middletown, Ohio woman named Mabel Fletcher used a concealed-carry handgun to stop a home invader who entered her house just after midnight Wednesday.

According to Cincinnati.com, Fletcher acquired her concealed carry permit in June and was home alone with her dog when the burglar entered.

Her dog woke at the sound of the intruder, giving Fletcher time to grab her Glock 9mm handgun as the invader closed in and attacked her. The assailant was a female, and Fletcher said, “I [saw] a shadow and then I went to look to see what it was and there she was. She pushed me… and started throwing things at me and it went from there and I shot.”

The intruder then ran to another room, from which she kept throwing things at Fletcher. The homeowner fired a few more rounds at her.

At this point the intruder fell and feigned having been hit. When Fletcher moved to check on her to see if she was breathing, the intruder “lunged at her,” and Fletcher fired again. The intruder then ran out of the house.

Although none of the shots hit the intruder, Fletcher knows having the gun leveled the playing field and saved her life.

“I have heard of so many break-ins and I am a widow and I am by myself and I thought somebody could come in,” she explained. “My dog could let me know, but if they could probably shoot him and then I’d have no protection and they could kill me. So I had to get me a weapon to protect myself.”

If they’re in the United States illegally, they need to be taken into custody and put on a plane with a one-way ticket back to wherever they came from … End of story … Problem Solved!

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) – An assistant manager at the Walmart in Hamburg was fired after posting comments about customers on Facebook.

A corporate spokesman says Terry Earsing is no longer with the company. Now the former assistant manager is apologizing for what he wrote.

“I’ve embarrassed my friends, my family, and myself,” Earsing said.

Earsing was fired from the Walmart on Southwestern Boulevard after posting a picture last Friday of Muslim women shopping in his store with a caption that read: “Halloween came early this year….do they really have to [expletive] dress like that…your (sic) in my country …get that [expletive] [expletive] off !!!!!”

“I apologize to everybody,” Earsing said. “Including the Muslim community. I hurt people that I didn’t know and I hurt that I did know.”

The former assistant manager says a friend took the picture.

“It started out as a joke on Facebook,” he said. “I meant it as a joke. Anyone who knows me and knows my character… I try to post funny things or black humor, but it just backfired.”

A corporate spokesman for Walmart would not state the company’s policy on social media, saying it is a personnel issue. The spokesman did say, however, the company has high expectations for its associates and Earsing failed to meet those expectations.

Mental health counselor Lynne Shine says questionable content should never be posted online.

“They like the popularity piece with being able to get feedback from everybody, and they’re not realizing the long-term ramifications,” she explained. “Even if it’s just for a time or you think it’s a funny joke or you want feedback from other people and friends, you don’t recognize: once you hit send, it’s for the world to see.”

Earsing’s post, though now taken off his Facebook page, can still be found and will be forever linked to him, including when he goes looking for another job.

“Doesn’t look too good, does it?” he acknowledged.

The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations called on Walmart to discipline Earsing, which resulted in his eventual firing, something Earsing himself says is justified.

Located in Tucumcari, N.M., near historic Route 66, the man who posted the sign has no apologies for the message concerning the commoder-in-chief.
“It’s like watching TV. If you don’t like what the hell you’re watching, turn the channel,” the man told KOAT-TV, refusing to provide his name.
“I’m not even certain he even deserves that level of respect, but that’s my opinion.”

He did not say what specifically prompted him to construct the outhouse, but indicated he has no intention of flushing it, as it has been standing for weeks, if not months.
“That’s my opinion … and fortunately, that’s one thing they haven’t taken away from us … is our right to our opinion,” he added.

Lauren Zakalik, a reporter for KOAT-TV, the local ABC affiliate, phoned city manager Doug Powers “to see if the city was doing anything about the sign.”
Powers said he had not seen the placard yet, but would visit the location to check if it’s compliant with city codes. Concerning the message, Powers thinks the city doesn’t have control over what people say.
Meanwhile, online commenters are having little problem dooing their business, posting comments on KOAT’s website such as:

President Barack Obama issued an executive order on Friday to end a three-year freeze on federal pay scales and give federal workers a one percent pay raise.

Union boss J. David Cox Sr., head of the American Federation of Government Employees, called Obama’s pay raise “inadequate” and “pitiful” but a step in the right direction.
“Although the 1 percent is a pitiful amount that doesn’t begin to compensate for the furloughs and three years of frozen pay, it is a welcome development,” said Cox. “To call this raise inadequate is an understatement, but it is good news all the same.”
The pay increase will not presently extend to blue-collar federal workers, reports the Federal Times, but negotiations are ongoing.
Obama’s decision to increase federal pay will be used as a bargaining chip in the looming debt ceiling and spending reduction showdown with Republicans.
Obama indicated on Friday that his pay hike would extend to the military, a move designed to preempt GOP efforts to increase military pay by 1.8 percent.

Dennis Rodman makes return visit to North Korea … Will Not Help Free American

Basketball Hall-of-Famer Dennis Rodman arrived in North Korea Tuesday to begin his second visit to that country this year, but the man nicknamed “The Worm” said earlier in the day he will not try to negotiate the release of an American held by Kim Jong-un’s regime since late last year.

“I’m not going to North Korea to discuss freeing Kenneth Bae,” Rodman told Reuters from Beijing, the traditional jumping-off point for flights into Pyongyang. “I’m just going there on another basketball diplomacy tour.”

“I just want to meet my friend Kim, the marshal, and start a basketball league over there,” Rodman told the Associated Press. “I have not been promised anything. I am just going there as a friendly gesture.

“I’m just going over there to have a good time and try to bridge the gap with Americans and North Koreans,” Rodman added. “Just let’s let people see in America that it’s not a bad thing to go to North Korea and have a good time and meet new people.”

President Obama and Vice-President Biden held a rare press event Saturday in the Rose Garden to address the escalating tensions with Syria. President Obama said he was convinced Syrian President Bashir Assad had ordered a chemical weapon attack on his citizens and that the US, and the world community, must act in response. Obama called on Congress to authorize a military attack against Syria. A new foreign policy crisis now faces the US. After the press event, Obama and Biden went golfing.

I’m not an expert in foreign policy, but I can think of a few things a President ought to do after requesting authority for a military strike on a sovereign nation. There are probably some Congressional leaders who ought to be briefed. There are likely one or two world leaders who would appreciate a chat about the US plans. No doubt generals in the military would have a thought or two about how things should proceed.
An hour after announcing a potential new military venture in the Middle East, with unknown consequences, “5 Wood or 2 Iron” is the last thing I want on a President’s mind.

“There is no more of a clear cut case in our country of the president overstepping his authority, ignoring the law, ignoring the Constitution, than the president’s ordering of ICE agents not to enforce U.S. immigration law,” he said. “Yet we have no investigations from Congress into this whatsoever.”

As union members and their leaders have become increasingly opposed to ObamaCare’s restrictions, the White House is reportedly considering a plan to offer health insurance subsidies–which were originally intended for the uninsured–to labor union members who already have employer-sponsored health insurance plans.

According to InsideHealthPolicy, the White House is working on regulations to address the unions’ concerns about Taft-Hartley plans:

Separately, the Office of Management and Budget previously showed on its regulatory review web site that on Aug. 24 it received a Department of Labor proposed rule on “Health Insurance Premium Assistance Trust Supporting the Purchase of Certain Individual Health Insurance Policies.” The rule, which OMB said is ACA-related, also appears to deal with the exclusion from a definition of an employee welfare benefit plan, but this week the description vanished.
Group health plans are employee welfare benefit plans that are established or maintained by an employer, by an employee organization such as a union, or both. The Labor department on Tuesday (Aug. 27) did not return requests for comment as to why the health insurance premium assistance trust proposed rule and description were taken down.

Multi-employer “Taft-Hartley” plans have tried to convince HHS that these plans should qualify as approved insurance plans in order to allow employees to obtain premium tax credits and cost-sharing reductions. Without subsidies, employers will be pressured to end their contributions.
As healthcare policy expert Avik Roy explains at Forbes:

Workers with employer-sponsored coverage don’t qualify for subsidized coverage on Obamacare’s insurance exchanges. Those subsidies are designed for low-income people who aren’t offered coverage from their employers, and have to shop for insurance on their own. But the labor union leaders want those subsidies to also apply to their members with employer-sponsored coverage, even though they already get those benefits tax-free due to the employer tax exclusion for health insurance.

Whether a union “fix” will work is still debatable. Rachana Dixit at InsideHealthPolicy wrote:

Democratic aides and sources off Capitol Hill say conversations about unions’ concerns are ongoing, and they say that the administration is working on regulations to address the issue. But, it is not clear if the proposed Department of Labor rule” would satisfy unions’ concerns.

“Separately, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi [D., Calif.] said to union members earlier this month that she was still working to resolve their concerns about the law, particularly on the Taft-Hartley plan issue,” Dixit wrote.
However, as Roy observes, this “concern” is not exactly an “issue,” but, rather, a matter of union leaders “seeking special treatment, and additional taxpayer subsidies, that other participants in employer-sponsored coverage don’t get.”

As Breitbart News reported Monday, 40,000 longshoremen have now quit the AFL-CIO because of the union’s support of ObamaCare’s confiscatory tax on their “Cadillac” healthcare plans.
In addition, a report from InsideHealthPolicy indicated that leaders of the Teamsters, United Food and Commercial Workers, and Unite HERE unions have slammed the Obama administration because their employees will be unable to access subsidies to purchase coverage for their “Taft-Hartley” multi-employer insurance plans.
In a letter to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D) in July, the leaders wrote that ObamaCare will “shatter not only our hard-earned health benefits, but destroy the foundation of the 40 hour work week that is the backbone of the American middle class.”
Roy notes, however, that the text of the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) is clear: coverage through an employer-sponsored health plan disqualifies subsidized coverage eligibility in a state exchange, “because you already get a subsidy through the tax code,” i.e., enrollees do not pay income or payroll taxes on the value of their health insurance coverage.
He concludes:

If, suddenly, the 20 million people on Taft-Hartley plans were eligible for subsidies, Obamacare’s costs would skyrocket. If half of those Taft-Hartley enrollees gained $5,000 per year in tax credits along with their tax-free health benefits, we’re talking $50 billion a year in additional insurance subsidies for those individuals. That’s more than half a trillion dollars over ten years, accounting for health inflation.
I would say that it’s inconceivable that the White House would seek to impose such a “fix” to Obamacare without the consent of Congress. But, given the other changes that the administration has made to the health law—of similarly questionable legality—we can’t rule anything out.

In what is being reported as a surprise move, the 40,000 members of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) announced that they have formally ended their association with the AFL-CIO, one of the nation’s largest private sector unions. The Longshoremen citied Obamacare and immigration reform as two important causes of their disaffiliation.

In an August 29 letter to AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, ILWU President Robert McEllrath cited quite a list of grievances as reasons for the disillusion of their affiliation, but prominent among them was the AFL-CIO’s support of Obamare.
“We feel the Federation has done a great disservice to the labor movement and all working people by going along to get along,” McEllrath wrote in the letter to Trumka.
The ILWU President made it clear they are for a single-payer, nationalized healthcare policy and are upset with the AFL-CIO for going along with Obama on the confiscatory tax on their “Cadillac” healthcare plan.
The Longshoreman leader said, “President Obama ran on a platform that he would not tax medical plans and at the 2009 AFL-CIO Convention, you stated that labor would not stand for a tax on our benefits.” But, regardless of that promise, the President has pushed for just such a tax and Trumka and the AFL-CIO bowed to political pressure lining up behind Obama’s tax on those plans.
McEllrath also went on to say that they support stronger immigration reform than the AFL-CIO is supporting.
One ILWU committeeman was even harsher on both the AFL-CIO and the President. ILWU Coast Committeeman Leal Sundet criticized the AFL-CIO telling LaborNotes.com that Trumka was marching “in lockstep” with Obama both on the “Cadillac healthcare tax” as well as immigration.
Sundet slammed Obama’s immigration plan saying it is “designed to give [only] highly-paid workers a real path to citizenship.”
Private sector unions have fallen to an all time low participation rate in the US workforce. Unionized workers now account for only 11.3 percent of the US workforce.

As six members of Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s gun control group rallied for more gun laws on August 30, about 50 gun rights supporters hijacked the event and said that there are enough gun laws already.

According to 10TV.com, the Columbus, Ohio rally was hosted by members of Mayors Against Illegal Guns but ended up looking “more like an NRA rally.”
When organizer Blanche Luczyk took to the mic and tried to claim Ronald Reagan would support more background checks she was met with shouts of “Germany 1933” and “Hitler.” (Earlier this year, Breitbart News did a report on Ronald Reagan and background checks–those who claim he would have supported Senator Joe Manchin’s gun control scheme are badly mistaken.)
Gun rights advocates in attendance had “rifles over their shoulders and others [had] handguns in hip holsters.”
And while Luczyk said she was disappointed in Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH) for not supporting Manchin’s gun control legislation earlier this year, gun rights advocate Charles Roberts was not. Roberts said, “We need to go after criminals who commit crimes with guns and not the honest law abiding citizens.”
Roberts said he attended the rally to show his support for “the NRA, gun rights, and the Second Amendment.”

“According to a report published yesterday by the CBS affiliate in Chicago, the new sex education program mandated in Chicago public schools will—like the SIECUS curriculum—instruct kindergartners about same-sex relationships.

“Students will also take a look at the different family structures that exist in today’s society,” said the CBS report. The report then quoted Stephanie Whyte, the chief health officer of the Chicago Public Schools: “Whether that means there’s two moms at home, everyone’s home life is different, and we introduce the fact that we all have a diverse background.”

This week, I was watching “Hunger Games” again with my kids and found myself comparing this run away hit movie of 2012 to the twisted and dangerous world we are living in now. You may recall with “Hunger Games” the capital of the nation of Panem randomly drew a teenage girl and boy from 12 districts for the Hunger Games. These teens were trained, obtained sponsors, then were dropped into an area and watched by the viewing mobs with cameras everywhere. The bottom line was only one could win and live. All else would die. It was modern day “Gladiators.”

The president of Panem stated that the only thing more powerful in controlling the people through fear was with hope. Thus, the idea of a national game, Hunger Game, where the 24 “forced” contestants were treated like stars, entertained, and were used to distract and control the masses. The contestants each died with attention and honor after inspiring “hope.”

Who else controls with “hope” then fear?

False front groups and loyalties are created and supported by Obama and the progressive left. Hope and change is fed to the masses over and over again. It pulls them all into the arena and grandstands. Fear then keeps them there.

Remember Occupy Wall Street? Though some involved with the protests meant well, the masses that were manipulated with this did not. Crimes, rapes, robberies, and mob rule was everywhere. Remember that this group of thugs was described by Obama and the media as “old fashioned revolutionaries”…inspiring hope – Obama kind of hope.

We saw the same definition of “hope” with “Arab Spring.” Only Arab Spring was hope for radical Islam and the Muslim Brotherhood, not for freedom and the people dying to taste just the edge of any real hope in the Middle East.

The promise of hope was used with the takeover of Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood of Egypt. To achieve this, the hope and change lie had to be built to mob level, and Hosni Mubarak had to be thrown out. As always with the Muslim Brotherhood and radical Islam, the threats and fear “walls” were put up everywhere in Egypt. Dissenters were murdered and raped. The Egyptian Constitution was gutted and freedoms were crushed.

I don’t think Morsi and the radical Muslim Brotherhood expected millions of Egyptians to march in the street and protest. Thankfully and surprisingly, the military stood with the people and against the evils of Morsi and his government. Morsi was thrown out along with his lies about hope.

* Occupy Wall Street – Obama supported

* Dictator Zelaya who violated the laws and people of Honduras and was legally thrown out – Obama supported Zelaya

* Obama now is shouting out war plans against Syria and al-Assad accusing them of using chemical weapons. All the real and Arabic-based intelligence proves the use of chemical weapons with the Rebels, not al-Assad and his military. Obama is on the wrong side with Syria, and this could lead to WW3 if we aren’t careful.

Obama is the biggest inventor of “hope” then giver of fear the world has ever seen. Where are the millions marching in the streets in America? Where is the courage of the House and Senate to stand against the lies and unconstitutional behavior of our Zelaya and Morsi – Obama? He already uses the IRS, NSA, EPA, and other Obama-controlled groups to attack his enemies. Soon, he will add Obamacare to attack more enemies and unwanted people in his regime.

Obama chronically has linked his hope card with volunteerism, service, manipulated healthcare and a new kind of Americanism – Nationalism and sameness with others.

This Obama hope is to be inspired and controlled once the masses are in the arena, by Islam in one barrel and the New World Order – sustainability and Agenda 21 in barrel number 2. Obama “hope” and “fear” – both barrels are at America’s head. He MUST be thrown out, impeached, or tried for treason.

Let America experience real hope for a change, and Obama experience real fear for a change.

Impeachment: liberty’s strategic imperative

Obama is ‘waging all-out political war against the Constitution’

More and more people are beginning to call for the impeachment and removal of the civil officers of the U.S. government who are responsible for, or collaborating with, the Obama faction’s ongoing assault on the U.S. Constitution.

A group of black Republicans just published a bill of particulars detailing the abuses they believe warrant the impeachment and removal of the Obama government and its collaborators. Others have decried Obama’s dictatorial usurpation of Congress’ constitutionally exclusive legislative power, as he neglects to execute faithfully existing U.S. immigration laws against several hundreds of thousands of people whose unlawful entry into the United States degrades the physical security and political sovereignty of the nation. Even a frequently purblind mouth organ of the elitist faction like George Will feels obliged to notice the almost casual assumption of tyrannical power whereby Obama purported to create a bubble of elitist privileges, meant to keep people on Capitol Hill from being sucked into the brewing maelstrom of Obamacare.

While the media circus invites Americans to focus on the mask of a clown, Obama is blithely assuming the visage of a Third-World despot. He works assiduously, in defiance of nearly every constitutional duty and constraint, to assure that America’s strength and status in the world are degraded to suit that assumption. Tragically for America, while Obama disarms the nation against its actual and potential adversaries, he is moving to consolidate every power that can be used to make war on the rights and sovereignty of the American people. This has dismayed, though perhaps not detoxicated, even some of the Democrats whose political stupefaction helped to put Obama in a position to wield power he is now so obviously determined to abuse.

Our last remaining political option

Thanks to the collusion and/or incompetence of his putative opponents in the GOP, Obama’s ideologically driven and purposeful destruction of America’s constitutional self-government moves steadily forward without let or hindrance. I have no doubt that a solid majority of Americans oppose replacing the U.S. Constitution with a Presidential Party dictatorship. I have no doubt that a significant number of them, particularly those who served in the military and remain faithful to the oath they swore to defend the Constitution, would be willing to risk their lives rather than live quietly under such a dictatorship.

But if it comes to the sort of civil conflict that is now building in Egypt, the American way of life will already have failed, and in precisely the manner envisaged by the elitist faction manipulators Obama represents. America’s founders framed the Constitution to avoid the dreary cycle that runs from the sullen acceptance of tyranny, through rising anger against its abuses, to the outbreak of mobocratic disorder, and back again to some form of tyranny. The whole point of dividing the power of government and delineating clear procedures for its legitimate exercise is to allow people to recognize and act against abuses before such things are so deeply entrenched that nothing short of forceful resistance can check them.

Instead of waiting until the swollen boil of tyranny bursts the remaining bonds of civil politics, America’s constitutional government offers opportunities for citizens to identify and thwart the officers of government whose actions flow with the pus of lawless ambition, removing them from government by the political and constitutional method that begins with impeachment, rather than the mobocratic passions that end in uncivil repression or misnamed civil war.

Cutting off the source

As the focus of the strategic effort to overthrow America’s constitutional self-government, the Obama faction has orchestrated a general assault against its economic, moral, and institutional supports. From Obamacare to amnesty for illegal immigrants; from gay marriage to the coercively indoctrinated normalization of homosexuality; from the legal imposition of cowardice by forcing people to flee rather than defend their lives and property, to the relentless push to destroy the Second Amendment’s prohibition against disarming their courage – Obama and the power-mad forces he represents are thrusting their bayonets into the soft underbelly of America’s way of life.

Americans anxious to fight back are being invited to give their attention, and to throw their energy and resources, into a confusing welter of battles. All of them seem critically important because they involve defending assaults against principles, rights, and institutions that are vital to the survival or our liberty. But this effort to fight off every attack actually dissolves and dissipates the force of liberty’s resistance against the strategic threat, allowing it to proceed almost without opposition. The assault against liberty spreads like a rising flood, threatening and overwhelming objectives all around a broad front. The resistance to liberty thus exhausts itself piecemeal, never gathering its strength to identify and achieve the one objective that would cut off the flood at its source, by diverting the flow of power that presently gives the flood its destructive force.

The Obama faction and its collaborators are not just fighting battles in an unconstitutional fashion. They are waging all-out political war against the Constitution itself. Their greatest advantage in that war is that the supposed focal point of opposition to their attacks – the GOP – cannot or will not acknowledge that the war is under way and has in fact reached its decisive stage. Instead, GOP leaders pay just enough lip service to the battles to prevent the forces of liberty from uniting in response to the strategic threat.

The Constitution’s “strategic imperative”

Americans who are sincerely determined to save their nation’s decent liberty must find the independence and will to look beyond the GOP sham of false partisan opposition, and unite in a strategic purpose that secures that paramount goal. They must find the vision to look beyond the mock combats of corrupting Republican/Democrat politics, and see the approaching denouement of liberty’s destruction. They must focus faith, courage, and political will on reasserting the national sovereignty the Constitution places within their reach, but which they can truly retain and exercise only if and when they accept their individual and collective responsibility to God, by wise choice to elect, or through their representatives to remove, officers of that government which has been ordained and established by the Constitution.

Against the media and money powers, and the political leaders who serve and depend on them, Americans must reassert their constitutional power as a people. Initiating impeachment when necessary is the only way to do so. But it depends on the people’s willingness to make their votes in the 2014 congressional elections turn on one prerequisite above all: Is a candidate for or against impeaching and removing from the U.S. government all the civil officers who have engaged in or collaborated with the Obama faction’s assault against the U.S. Constitution, and the rights, character, and liberty of the American people?

The New York Times is reporting that an anonymous source described Russian President Vladamir Putin as “infuriated” when Obama described Putin’s body language “like the bored kid in the back of the classroom.”

Suspicion of President Obama only intensified after his decision to scuttle a summit meeting next week in Moscow and to describe Mr. Putin in unusually personal terms at a news conference, saying his body language often made him look “like the bored kid in the back of the classroom.”

And while Obama went on to say “when we’re in conversations together, oftentimes it’s very productive” nevertheless “the comment infuriated Mr. Putin, according to one Russian official not authorized to be quoted by name.”

“Kids can’t learn when they’re hungry!” parents shouted at the board meeting along with a bevy of complaints that local children are starving at lunch — and for the remainder of the school day — because the food on offer in the cafeteria is crappy and there isn’t nearly enough of it.

Students can only have one serving of meat or other protein. However, rich kids can buy a second portion each day on their own dime.
Servings of carbohydrates such as potatoes are limited to just a single serving of three-fourths of a cup per student.

While his underlings selflessly toil to determine whether or not all the Assad government of Syria used chemical weapons against its own people (as seen on TV), President Obama played a 5 hour round of golf Sunday, closing in on a presidential total of 150 rounds of golf in four and half years. Meanwhile, The Royal Navy is ready for strikes on Syria, should Obama decide that his red line is more than the empty threat it seems to be.

Golf is a great game for socializing, spending time outdoors in well-manicured surroundings, and relaxing. But it does require an inordinate amount of time, which is the reason that after playing the game in high school, I have up on it. I don’t think that I have ever in my adult life had a work situation that would permit me to indulge in regular games of golf. It eats up too much of an entire day when you count the time necessary to get to the course.

One of the biggest largely unwritten stories of the Obama administration is the actual amount of time the commander in chief spends at work, as opposed to watching sports on TV, filling out March Madness brackets, socializing with celebrities, and whateverthehell he was doing while the Benghazi consulate was under attack.
The work ethic of the Obama administration was highlighted when newly appointed UN Ambassador Samantha Power was absent as the UN Security Council debated what to do about Syria late last week. Less than 3 weeks into her new job, she took a “personal trip” to Ireland (her native country) with her husband, who had an important appearance at a Charlie Chaplin film festival. Ambassador Power, the self-styled “genocide chick” gives evidence that Obama’s role modeling has had an effect further down the hierarchy. No wonder nobody seems to be able to determine whether all those dead and twitching children constitute the use of chemical weapons.

Senior Master Sgt. Phillip Monk has served in the U.S. Air Force for 19 years with a clean service record. But his new lesbian commander has relieved him of duty and is threatening his career, allegedly because of his Christian beliefs regarding gay marriage. Officials are investigating as Monk appeals his punishment.

Monk was First Sergeant of the 326th Training Squadron, stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. According to his attorneys, Monk recently returned from a deployment and found he had a new commander, Maj. Elisa Valenzuela, who is openly lesbian.
Monk explained to Fox News that in one of their first meetings, Valenzuela discussed wanting a chaplain to offer a benediction, but she, “objected to one particular chaplain that she called a bigot because he preached that homosexuality is a sin.” Monk says the commander’s response was, “I don’t know what kind of people actually believe that kind of crap.”
Monk is a devout evangelical Christian, and as such he believes marriage is the union of one man and one woman.
Fox News’ Todd Starnes reported that there was an episode involving Valenzuela with an Air Force trainer discussing gay marriage. The trainer referenced the decline of the Roman Empire, and Monk explained to Shannon Bream on Fox & Friends that the trainer was lecturing on how such issues can divide society with detrimental effects.
Valenzuela allegedly wanted to harshly punish this trainer, and solicited Monk’s recommendations on how to respond. Monk suggested the commander use it as an opportunity to teach tolerance and diversity instead. Valenzuela told Monk that they were not on the same page, and that if he did not get on his commander’s page he would not be allowed to continuing serving in his current position.
Then Valenzuela gave Monk an order, demanding Monk tell her whether he regards those who oppose gay marriage as discriminating against homosexuals. His attorneys add that he was told that supporting gay marriage was now military policy, and that he was not allowed to disagree with that policy.
Monk claims he responded that he could not answer Valenzuela’s question the way she wanted, and that he feared expressing his true beliefs could put him in legal jeopardy.
Monk was then relieved of his duties.
“I was essentially fired for not validating my commander’s position [regarding] homosexual marriage,” Monk explained to Fox News.
Monk is one year away from retirement. He originally considered accepting his punishment quietly to get to his 20-year mark, thinking of his responsibilities to provide for his family.
But when recently reading the Bible with his family, Monk was instructing his sons about the importance of standing up for their beliefs. He felt a deep sense of conviction that he needed to lead them by example, speaking up in his own situation.
Monk contacted Liberty Institute, a public-interest law firm that specializes in protecting religious liberty. Liberty Institute had recently established a hotline for military service members whose religious-liberty rights are being violated (800-259-9109).
Liberty Institute’s general counsel, Jeff Mateer, tells Breitbart News that, “hostility to religious faith in the military is rampant and increasing at an alarming rate.” Mateer says they receive many phone calls from those seeking help, but who wish to remain anonymous.
A spokesman for Lackland denies that Monk was relieved of duty, saying that Monk’s assignment was complete, and that is why he is no longer serving in his former post. Referring to Valenzuela and Monk, the spokesman added, “They did have a disagreement, but supposedly, they agreed to disagree.”
Another lawyer at Liberty Institute, Michael Berry, refuted the military’s claim:

Monk was not due to rotate to a new assignment until September, as military documents confirm. And typically, when you’re due to rotate to a new assignment, that follows a period where you are being shadowed by your replacement to allow for a smooth transition. Another thing they did—which is a drastic departure from standard procedure—is that he was told you are not permitted to return to this unit. He was banned from returning to his training squadron, and had to receive special permission even to pick up his personal items.

Berry said Monk was told, “Don’t come back on Monday.”
Those documents became public on Aug. 20, when Liberty Institute filed a formal equal-opportunity complaint and a request for redress with the military. Orders dated June 27 stated that Monk’s assignment would not end until Sept. 30. According to official filings, the hostile encounter with Valenzeula occurred on or around July 25. Then Monk received new orders on Aug. 13, informing him that on the very next day, Aug. 14, he would no longer part of his training squadron, and was being assigned to a new unit.
As a first step, this complaint has been filed with Valenzuela, informing her that, “your conduct constitutes unlawful discrimination.” The complaint cites Department of Defense Directive 1020.02, which the complaint says provides that, “discrimination against individuals or groups based on religion is contrary to good order and discipline [in
the military], counterproductive to combat readiness and mission accomplishment, and shall not be condoned.” Valenzuela’s decision can be appealed to the wing commander, then all the way up the chain of command to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel in the Pentagon.
Breitbart News spoke with Collen McGee, a spokeswoman for the training unit to which Monk was previously assigned. McGee said they disputed several of Monk’s contentions, but that the wing commander at Lackland had ordered a formal investigation of this situation, and that she would not comment on many specifics until the investigation was complete.
McGee added that they were committed to following military policy regarding this situation. She provided a copy of current Air Force policy, AFI 1-1, regarding religious freedom, but also admitted that the policy says nothing about religious-viewpoint speech by service members. Also Section 1.7.4.4 of this policy provides that “harassing” persons based on sexual orientation could be forbidden.
McGee also provided Breitbart News with Local Operating Instruction 36-03. Section 13.3.1.2 forbids language that “degrades, belittles, or demeans,” or “slanders” anyone’s “sexual orientation,” and includes specifically that language can be forbidden if it insinuates that such conduct is “immoral.” When asked if observant Christians expressing orthodox Christian beliefs regarding sexuality and/or marriage would be regarded as violating this prohibition, McGee had no comment.
Mateer says this incident is part of a pattern emerging throughout the military under President Obama. Mateer says many service members do not “come forward publicly due to fear of retribution, which would destroy their military careers.” Mateer explains that these instances are increasingly widespread, but most service members feel constrained not to speak out because they want to keep serving their country and also need to provide for their families.
Breitbart News has reported in recent months about serious threats to religious liberty—especially for observant Christians—in the military. As previously reported, the Obama-Hagel Pentagon held a series of meetings with an anti-Christian activist with a record of making shockingly-offensive statements against service members of traditional faith, and recently an ordained Christian chaplain was officially censored for merely quoting the old adage that there are no atheists in fox holes.

Now the career of an airman with 19 years in the Air Force is threatened, evidently because of his orthodox Christian beliefs. The First Amendment protects religious liberty, and forbids government from compelling a person to express any opinion they do not share.
These unprecedented issues regarding troops’ First Amendment rights have led Congress to move new legislation that would protect troops against such hostility, which has passed the House and is pending in the Senate. President Obama threatens to veto the legislation if it reaches his desk.

There is a natural assumption when you are applying to institutions of higher education that you are excellent or you are more superb than others.
