Obama Gives Pay Raise to Federal Workers, Union Complains
President Barack Obama issued an executive order on Friday to end a three-year freeze on federal pay scales and give federal workers a one percent pay raise.
Union boss J. David Cox Sr., head of the American Federation of Government Employees, called Obama’s pay raise “inadequate” and “pitiful” but a step in the right direction.
“Although the 1 percent is a pitiful amount that doesn’t begin to compensate for the furloughs and three years of frozen pay, it is a welcome development,” said Cox. “To call this raise inadequate is an understatement, but it is good news all the same.”
The pay increase will not presently extend to blue-collar federal workers, reports the Federal Times, but negotiations are ongoing.
Obama’s decision to increase federal pay will be used as a bargaining chip in the looming debt ceiling and spending reduction showdown with Republicans.
Obama indicated on Friday that his pay hike would extend to the military, a move designed to preempt GOP efforts to increase military pay by 1.8 percent.

I thought they told us this would effect everything, so where did they get the money for the raises???
gives them raises but cuts military raises. he has such hate for the military and everything it stands for. he will stop at nothing to destroy it.
Obama Reduces 2014 Pay Hike for U.S. Troops, Still Fighting in Afghanistan As promised in his Fiscal Year 2014 budget, President Obama has just informed Congress that he will cap next year’s pay raise for U.S. military personnel at 1 percent, instead of the 1.8 percent raise set by the formula Congress established.
Everything Obama does now is about winning the House for Dems in 2014. He doesn’t give a damn about the military or federal workers. He’s throwing Christmas gifts out on the table then going to point the finger at Republicans when the gifts are taken away from the innocent deserving people. Blame Republicans for Sequester, blame Repubs for pay cuts, blame Repubs for not authorizing force against Syria, blame Repubs for being against amnesty.
Doesn’t he have to end the sequester before he gives even a .01% raise, because isn’t the entire point of the sequester to save money?
