UPS: Obamacare Forcing Us to Cut 15K Spouses From Coverage

by on August 21, 2013

OBAMACARE IS FUNDAMENTALLY SCREWING OVER AMERICAN BUSINESSES AND EMPLOYEES

“Here’s the latest: United Parcel Service Inc. will drop roughly 15,000 spouses from its insurance plan because “they are eligible for coverage elsewhere,” the American City Business Journals reported.

And according to Kaiser Health News, the Atlanta-based company cited President Barack Obama’s landmark health care law as the reason for the change.

“Companies have recently tried to downplay their worries over the full implementation of Obamacare, but UPS isn’t one of those companies. In fact, as Kaiser noted, the logistics company has no problem pointing fingers at the new healthcare law.

“Rising medical costs, “combined with the costs associated with the Affordable Care Act, have made it increasingly difficult to continue providing the same level of health care benefits to our employees at an affordable cost,” UPS said in a memo to employees.

“UPS told employees in June that roughly 15,000 working spouses eligible for coverage would be axed from the company’s plan in 2014.”

Obamacare doesn’t specify that family health plans cover spouses.
This is just one of the little gems in the bill that, according to Nancy Pelosi, had to be passed before it could be read to see what was in it!
Right now we’re beginning to see plans dropping spouses that have coverage elsewhere.
I can guarantee you that soon enough we’ll be seeing plans dropping spouses if if they do NOT have coverage elsewhere!
Family plans will simply cover children (which Obamacare still requires), although Obamacare DOES allow plans to allow that subsidies be charged for children that are covered, so soon enough you’ll be seeing this as well … “Oh, I see you’re on the ‘Family Plan’ … Okay, 2 children? Yes, they’re covered, but we’re allowed to charge you a ‘subsidy’ to help us fund that coverage for your children, so that will be $1,000 per child per year please ……”
