First Couple hosts celeb-filled concert amid sequestration

Despite canceled WH tours and long airport lines, Obamas host swanky gala for stars President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle will host a star-studded roster of music legends April 9 for another glitzy installment in the “In Performance at the White House The concert comes as the White House is emphasizing cuts caused by sequestration and criticizing reporters for not paying enough attention to the hardship caused by the mandatory slowdown in the rate of spending increases. Though the White House notably canceled all visitor tours in March, ostensibly due to sequestration, the First Couple’s series of White House concerts — billed as “the nation’s highest honor for popular song” — manages to survive. Al Green “‘In Performance at the White House: Memphis Soul’ will be broadcast Tuesday, April 16 at 8 PM ETon PBS stations nationwide (check local listings),” according to the press release. Although the PBS website indicates past concerts have drawn corporate and philanthropic support, the event also receives major funding “In Performance at the White House: Memphis Soul” will be the tenth “In Performance at the White House” program hosted by the President and Mrs. Obama. Starting in February 2009, these events have honored the musical genius of Stevie Wonder, Sir Paul McCartney, Burt Bacharach and Hal David; celebrated Hispanic musical heritage during Hispanic Heritage Month; marked Black History Month with events featuring music from the Civil Rights Movement, Motown and the Blues; spotlighted Broadway and the unique spirit of the American musical; and explored the rich roots and resiliency of Country Music,” according to the White House press release. |

Under the Obama reign of economic stagnation and cronyism, U.S. sees highest poverty spike since the 1960s, leaving 50 million Americans poor and black poverty at record highs.
But the 1% Prez and his Grifter wife party on….suck it up Americans.
No funds for WH tours, but plenty of funds for SS agents to babysit tweens for an island vacation at five star resort and ski trip. Plenty of funds for yet another party.
Money never seems to be an issue for their lavish parties and luxurious vacations.

But keep in mind that many of the 50% don’t want to work anyway. They are the people on the government dole. They are content being poor. I feel bad for the poor suckers who took it in the chops from Obama’s manufactured sequestration. There are Air Traffic controllers all over the country that are getting fired because Obama wants to cause pain for Americans and blame the republicans. I feel sorry for them.
Sorry, but these folks are not poor. Their entitlements are directly correllated to the amount of babies they ouput. They get welfare, food stamps and other subsidies that most of us can’t get. When I lost my job, my unemployment was too much to get any subsidies of any kind and I was driving an old car that was paid off. I was seeing people drive up in SUV’s, Caddies, and other luxury vehicles with their BLING on and getting their stuff. Hussein said to make the sequester hurt and it has. At least to anyone who is working for a living, while his majesty and the court jester (Biden) are living it up with Golf Outings and concerts. What a narcissist.
You make a good point. But that’s why I said many and not all. Hard working people like you that play by the rules and don’t use Obama Phones get screwed. There is no debating that. I just hope we survive until someone smart and decent (like Romney) gets the WH back.
