Set your sails
With some borrowed homely points of wisdom, I can say that even though the same wind blows on us all, it’s the set of our sails that determines what port we arrive at. Think about that. Have you ever seen or been on a sailboat moving silently across the water, not under it’s own power? It’s the wind (circumstances) that is the source of movement, yet it’s how we trim our sails (how we respond) that affects where we go. Sure, we usually can’t travel in a straight line but so long as we are patient and deliberate, we CAN get to where we want to arrive. Note, WE can arrive where we want even though everyone else may want to go to other destinations. Let all those dipshits expecting Obama to take care of them moan about how their lives suck. Their quality of life will never improve because they have no destination in mind and they’re not trimming their sails. They’re drifting along expecting SS ENTITLEMENTS to pull alongside and do it for them. If you have the inclination, offer to tell a story about how great one of your destination ports is so maybe they’ll want to experience it for themselves and want to learn how to trim their sails to get there, but never ever do it for them! The sailing metaphor is from the late Jim Rohn which I have taken to heart to improve my own situation. The trimming of your sail and the arrival at the port of your choosing has absolutely nothing to do with anyone else’s boat, sails, or crewmembers. It only has to do with the wind that blows and how you set your own sail! That should be a freeing thought for those weighed down by recent events.
Very nice and very wise.
