Well, I think the result of an economic collapse will be nothing more than the loss of a portion of the citizenry uncapable of providing for themselves. Those in the cities unable to procure food will not survive. The people in the rural areas (50%?) will be able to live off the land either in a state of self-subsistence (farmers) or in a cooperative fashion for those who live in small towns and understand the power and value of community. The laws will still stand, the framework or operating system if you will, as established by the Founding Fathers. There will just be fewer people to carry on and eventually the population will rebuild. Soon, every other major urban area will resemble Detroit.
