A Man of Ideas

by on January 28, 2012

Think about it.  Why do we talk about electing a President of the United States who is a man (or woman) of new ideas?  Technically, coming up with new ideas isn’t the job of the President.

The President’s job is to lead the Executive Branch, to be the commander-in-chief of our armed forces, to protect our country and its borders.  Just because a President thinks of new ideas, doesn’t mean the nation is even concerned with those ideas.  He is to enforce the laws.  He is not designated to come up with new ideas.  Why would he?  This isn’t one of his duties.

The place for new ideas comes from Congress, the Legislative Branch.  The Legislative Branch creates the laws and proposes them to the President, who vetoes them or not.    Our legislators are sent to Washington to represent “we the people.”  It is the legislators’ job to come up with ideas in order to enact laws that represent the people of the nation.

The Judicial Branch decides if the laws of our country have been broken.

The U.S. Constitution, Article 1 designates the powers of the Legislative Branch.  Article 2 designates the powers of the Executive Branch.  Article 3 designates the powers of the Judicial Branch.  Simply put, we need to elect people who follow the Constitution of the United States and the duties of each branch that are outlined within.

EVERYTHING a president is supposed to do can be categorized and traced to his duties per the Constitution! i’m simply saying that we have a very rich history of all our presidents while fulfilling their constituational responsibility, going above & beyond in grandiose fashion w/ ideas & initiatives that drive legislated policy. The point & premise of this post is flawed. Does anyone really believe that the New Deal and Great Society programs were not grandiose?? the founding of American Philosophical and Science Societies, national railways & waterways and that visions toward outer space were not laughed at by many before they were accomplished?! the wars on poverty and drugs and worldwide health & human rights initiatives, as well as the spreading of Democracy & oh yeah “tearing down the Soviet Empire” – how bout the ending of Slavery while holding the Union together – all were not idealistic and grand??!! YES your premise is deeply flawed because our presidents have always, and will continue to be Grandiose in their work…………..

The point of the post is to serve as a reminder that the President’s job is to lead the Executive Branch, and the President’s authority to do so is defined by Article 2 of the U.S. Constitution. So while candidates campaign across the United States with “grandiose ideas” and tell constituents in each state what he or she will do for them, we must remember the authority of the President is limited. We need to keep Article 2 of the U.S. Constitution in mind and not be distracted by “grandiosity.”

think about this: we have a rich history of our presidents (who happen to be the leader of the free world!) dreaming & leading & inspiring BIG ideas/ideals. From Washington’s critical mindset in the Revolution to his dream of expanding westward w/ waterways – to Teddy Roosevelt & his Panama Canal push – to Kennedy & his moon declaration – to Reagan and his taking down the evil Soviet empire on & on we could literally list thousands of grandiose ideas from which flowed from our commander in chiefs and BUILT our great civilization! (this post is staggeringly shortsighted) we don’t live on technicalities in the USA! & the rundowns of great public servents like Newt Gingrich are simply foolish & niave. He brings an awful lot of positive & productive experience to this primary table and the attacks on him from all sectors are very illuminating and eerily parallel to the Reagan rise and what he went through – Sarah Palin had to deal w/ the same “establishment” abuse… & oh yeah, come to think of it – so did George Washington! haha so put that in the ol’ mittpipe & smoke it 🙂 and speaking of the annointed one, during a recent debate while Newt had described a direction for our great space program to inspire “private” industry & investment and also motivate kids in their education to strive… mushymoderatemitt took the opportunity to showcase his vision & governing style for America – he said ” if i had someone who worked for me come and say let’s investment $$$ in space id say YOU’RE FIRED!” oh thats reeaal nice Mr. celebrity appretice Trump wanna be ! veeeerrry inspirational 🙂 i’m sure Lincoln & Jefferson would be damn proud sir!!!!!
