It seems like yesterday..
but it was long ago..
Ann was lovely she was the queen of my nights,
There in our tiny apartment with the radio playin’ low..

And the vision that we shared..
The business that I grew..
Bain caught like a wildfire out of control..
‘Til there was nothing but profit earned,
and nothing “Staples” hasn’t proved..

And I remember what business owners said to me..
How they swore they’d stand by their dreams to the end..
I remember how their passion burned oh so bright..
Hope the American people will let me use now,
what I learned then…

We were runnin’ against the progressive spin…
We were young and strong, we were runnin’

And the years rolled by too fast..
And I found Olympic gold..
Surrounded by athletes I’m proud to call friends..
I helped the Games shine bright right here at home..

And I guess I found my way..
On that Massachusetts road..
I was living to run and runnin’ I did..
As Governor I worried about taxpayers,
and how much they owed..

Moving my state forward every minute for months at a time..
Setting all of the rules so we could contend..
Then I began to hear something bigger than just me calling..
Calling out to me again and again…

Against the Spin…
A little something against the liberal spin…
I found myself standing firm,
Against the Spin…

Well those younger days have served me well now..
I’ve got so much more to think about..
Presidential campaign deadlines and commitments..
Exceptionalism we’ll leave in..
Obamaism we’ll kick out!

Now I’m runnin’ against the Obama-Mania-Media-Machine Spin…
I’m older now but will fight against this biased spin!..
Yes I’m wiser now and will prevail Against the Spin!!
